RelicBlade Vanguard Starter Sets Now Available From Metal King
October 29, 2015 by brennon
The RelicBlade Starter Set is now available featuring eleven miniatures, both heroes and enemies. You can see what's part of the Vanguard Set right now which might be a little bit expensive at present, but the models look ace...
The set has been made to hopefully get people to adopt the game early ahead of a Kickstarter next year. You get the Warrior, Cleric (with Spirit Weapon), Druid and Bear facing off against a range of Pig Orc Warriors with a multitude of weapons.
You can also buy each of the models individually over on their webstore. Rules and the cards for each of these models will be available at a later date as a free PDF download so you can print them off and try out the game.
I had no idea about the Druid character so it's awesome to see her now popping up with a faithful companion.
Will you be an early adopter?

Um… no.
Yeah, $75 plus shipping for eleven miniatures and no rules. I think I’ll pass on this one.
At first I wasn’t overly taken with the mins but they are starting to grow on me. I love the illustrations on the cards and whatnot (you can see some of them on the site), they take me back to my childhood playing Heroquest.
The game play looks fun too (from the example on the RB site) so am looking forward to perusing the rules when they go up.
The minis are a bit rich for my blood but I will defy keep an eye on this game, I love the idea of playing on a 2ft board.
Those are not bad but for that price those don’t seem worth it.
Fa-ha-ha-harrrr too expensive.
you also get the rules in pdf and the cards. If you do not consider that it comes out to about $6 a mini, which isnt all that crazy. However, it would be far better if included the rulebook and cards. A kickstarter will start next year and he told me this
“Anyone that buys the Vanguard set will have access to all stretch goals and add-ons. Kickstarter will hopefully expand into wave 2. I have a list of all the vanguard backers and I can give them special access.”
Well, in the end I decided to pick up a set after I had a look through the pdf of the cards & rules; it looks great fun.
