New Releases From Empress Miniatures Covers Two Continents
August 13, 2015 by stvitusdancern
Empress Miniatures has a couple of new releases out for two different theaters of operations.
The first is for the Zulu War Naval Brigade, yes there were navel personnel involved in this little war in South Africa (technically Zululand). After the terrible defeat of Isadhlwana and now with the British troops under siege at Eshowe, Royal Navy personnel and troops departed their ships from Durban to form a compliment of almost 900 troops and began the trek 90 miles to relieve the beleaguered fort.
They withstood an overwhelming force of Zulus and drove them back, which essentially according to some took the fighting spirit out of many of the Zulu warriors who were mostly civilians and formed up when called.
Now you can add an extra dimension to your British military forces for this campaign. I like how the variation in uniforms creates a nice break from the typical red jackets and white/beige helmets of the the British Army of that time. This period is one of my all time favorites to game and collect for.
The second set out is for some artillery for their Jazz Age Imperialism collection, here you get a mountain gun with an Indian crew. It is another impressive piece for this time period and gives that much needed support for the troops. Can you imagine pushing this piece through steep, tight mountain passes? No, thank you.
What is your favorite time period to play?
