Red Scar Add Mantic Goodies Into Kings Of War RPG Pledges
September 4, 2019 by brennon
Red Scar Publishing has been doing really well with their Kings Of War The Roleplaying Game Kickstarter and with just under two weeks left on the campaign they are very close to their funding goal.
One of the nice little things they've added into the mix has been the chance to get yourself an alternative Kickstarter Exclusive cover for the book. Instead of the artwork showing the heroes and villains clashing you instead get this rather impressive symbol which almost turns the book into one of the tomes you might find deep within the libraries of Pannithor.
As well as that there are a few pledge levels which are worth keeping an eye on as they bring in some nice goodies from the folks at Mantic Games.
The Elohi Pledge, for example, gets you started with the core rulebook in hardcover and PDF plus with digital aids and you also get the Vanguard rulebook so you can start introducing more skirmish elements into your games, taking your heroes beyond the roleplaying game into the wider world.
At the more expensive level with the Dungeon Overlord pledge, you get all of the RPG goodies plus Dungeon Saga and codes to pick up more from Mantic.
Again, this is a nice way to show off the 'combined arms' element of the Kings Of War RPG. As well as being a traditional roleplaying tome there's also plenty of ways to develop this into Dungeon Saga, Vanguard and Kings Of War proper. If you really like the world of Pannithor and the factions within it then it feels like they're working to make it an all-encompassing experience.
Have you had a look at the Kickstarter? There are Quickstart Guides, both for the TriCore and 5E mechanics, available for you to try out.
Let me know if you've had a peek!

I am surprised that this game hasn’t funded yet
They’ve missed some beats on the social front and didn’t hit the ground running as fast as they could have. Several KoW podcasts and websites did not get the launch day info out like they should have so several people are missing out. I think it will fund put their not going to hit as many stretch goals as they would have liked
Hi It’s Richard from Redscar. We’re nearly there, only 1k left to go until we are funded. Then we can get to the fun bit of stretch goals!
It’s been a learning curve for us so far, but the community has, as ever, been awesome and we are getting lots of excitement and enthusiasm on the campaign.
Have you backed it yet?
Of corse I have. Wanted to give more but I already own dungeon quest and vanguard. And no one wants to see my ugly puss in print
The figures will be fantastic if as good as the artwork.
Rest assured it’s Mantic, so they will be fantastic!
sounds good any pictures?
I think the exclusive cover is a tempting alternative to the original artwork, which hasn’t been universally praised.
Chucking the vanguard rules in too are nice, so as well as role-playing you can do some skirmish battle.
But fundamentally, it’s £35 for an RPG rulebook. Stretch goals will just be frills. That’s a reasonable price, so if you want it, back it to make it happen. I wouldn’t wait for lots of extra stuff to be added.
The stretch goals have all been chosen to add depth and immersion to the game. So as well as being a good entry price, we know our backers will end up with something really special as we add the stretch goals too.
Have you backed us yet? There are some tasty pledge levels available
I believe that shipping costs are a big part of the slow going. It’s making the book quite expensive and only attractive for really big fans…and most of them do not need the goodies…they already have them.
Our logistics guru Garry has stepped in and looked at the shipping costs. Thanks to his efforts we are now happy we have the right value for shipping. It might be worth taking another look at us. Plus we are including a 5e conversion as well as Redscar’s Tricore system. We’re hoping this will make the RPG appealing for everyone.
Hi Richard!
Great to hear…I am not sure I read that on the KS page…but you do over pick up at shows, right?!?
That saves even more…so it should be more public knowledge 🙂
Richard thanks for asking the time to come over here and keep us up to date
No worries! The fact that you took the time to comment here shows you care about the project, so it’s the least we could do.

And funded. Now for the stretch goals
