Reaper Miniatures Prepare For BIG Bones 6 Kickstarter Soon!
March 18, 2022 by brennon
Reaper Miniatures has been preparing for a brand new (and bumper) Kickstarter at the end of March. Bones 6 is going to be tumbling its way onto Kickstarter 31st March!
Tales From The Green Griffin // Reaper Miniatures
The theme of this new Bones Kickstarter is going to be Tales From The Green Griffin. So, expect loads of tavern patrons and plenty of monsters that have appeared in tall tales sung by the bards and heroes that frequent the establishment.
The Bones range is a plastic range of 28mm miniatures that you can use for all manner of games. Most folks use them for roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons and Pathfinder for example!

The idea is that the Bones range allows you to get your hands on a pretty hefty collection of roleplaying miniatures. It's a very good resource for those who like painting and Dungeon Masters who are in need of loads and loads of miniatures to use (incorrectly?) in their dungeon delves and adventures.
The first few previews (see above) are looking pretty awesome and Reaper always has loads of amazing miniatures in these Bones collections. You can sign up for their newsletter to know more!
Have you finished painting the last Bones bundle you backed?

Ooh nice figures.
Those are nice.
I have some of the first bones and theu’re not great. The material was fine for larger monsters without to much intrecate parts such as golems. Even the hot water method won’t allow it to keep it shape otherwise.
A friend told me the newer materials is much superior. Good detail, especially considering the price, and muc sturdier.
It’s boudn to be a big deal, but between my 3d printer and about a 1000 mini’s from other kickstarters on their way, I’m better of not to give into the temptation.
The plastic did get better (eg. Bones Black), but if you have a 3D printer and hefty supply of miniatures, you probably don’t need Reaper Bones, or any bulk miniature KS at Reaper prices. I think 3D printers are great because you can “find” the miniature that you need, not sift through piles of miniatures that “sorta look like” what you want! I’ve been in Bones I-IV, and skipped V because of the price increase to $125, the miniatures had to become “weirder” to differentiate themselves from their previous releases, and the miniatures that did look best were in the… Read more »
It would be easy to dismiss a company running its 6th KS featuring the “throw buckets of minis at them” approach, but Reaper still manages to get the benefit of the doubt from me. It’s typically a decent bargain (though not the bargain it was a decade ago with Bones 1) from a small company that genuinely tries to do things the right way. And even in a hobby world reaching “peak mini” I’m sure it will be a success.
This is one of the best deals in tabletop gaming in my opinion.
They’ve delivered 5 times.
The quality of the minis is really up there, much better than the white featureless bendy bits that they first started with.
Really nice range of subjects, and getting better and better at catering for wargames not just role players.
And they normally have one of the most generous ‘late backers’ /add ons/pledge managers approaches in the business. Just make sure you factor in Vat if you are UK or EU based.
A few things: The Bones KS are always a good value for dollar compared to retail for D&D or proxy mini’s for games like Rangers of Shadow Deep, Lasting Tales, Brutality, League of Dungeoneers, Reign in Hell, or rolling your own Warhammer Quest. I have a whole Warband for Warcry using Reaper Miniatures. The old white plastic Bones is gone replaced by Bones Black and Bones Black USA and the detail is far better than many board game miniatures or Blacklist Games Miniatures. They are not HIPS like GW but who cares for most miniature agnostic games. They are quality… Read more »
fwiw, “Bones USA is a new production process we’re developing that utilizes an injected thermal plastic to make figures. The equipment we’re using is SIOcast out of Spain. The SIOcast machine injects melted material into the cavities of a silicone mold. The results are impressive, with the plastic castings holding an incredible amount of detail.” https://www.reapermini.com/bonesusa Also, fwiw, iirc, with the size of the Bones KS, the KS miniatures will still be made in China. Siocast is useful to replenish stock, when demand is lower than the initial run. Afaik, Their Reaper Bases are injection-molded plastic made domestically. When you’re… Read more »
