Ranged Options Fight For The Stormcast’s Vanguard In Age Of Sigmar
February 27, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop continues to add to the world of Age Of Sigmar with more releases for the Stormcast Eternals and the Vanguard Chamber. Here we have the Vanguard-Raptors who bring ranged options to your faster moving scouting force.
First up we have the rapid-firing Hurricane Crossbows for the Vanguard-Raptors. As well as firing a whopping six attacks as they fire they also have a few different extra options. You can rapid fire, adding three to your total of attacks or you can add some suppressing fire to a single target, reducing its charge move in the next phase.
Alternatively, you can pick up the Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows.
These weapons sacrifice damage output for range and can be used for long sniping shots across the battlefield. Any to hit rolls of a six actually also cause two mortal wounds due to their headshot ability.
Both of these units are also joined by the colourful Aetherwings. As well as having a nice set of attacks they are incredibly agile, being allowed to retreat and charge in the same turn and use their bond with the Vanguard-Raptors to fly to their aid when needed.
I do really like the look of the Longstrike Crossbows here and the Aetherwings are some very nice birds too. The withering fire from the Hurricane Crossbows however will probably make them the weapons of choice.
What do you think?

Now those are crossbows.
Love the bolter crossbows but what really sells these to me are the eagles. Im really liking the creatures that have been included in this range recently.
Both crossbows and eagles are rather nice but too bad those come with Stormcast models.
Yay. More Stormcast Eternals
aether wings is why I’m buying this, probably 2 boxes. Kinda Meh about the raptors. Crossbow snipers don’t work for the what I’m building towards, but the heads will help for othe models
They seem to almost be pushing for these to be used as Space Marine standins. I don’t mind but still find it amusing. They are quite fresh take on things. Go Celestial Lion!
Scrolling the newsfeed I mistook that raised crossbow for a Trident – Stormcast Eternal Aqua-Marines 🙂 I clicked on the link expecting land-sharks and harpoons 🙁

…with killer-gulls
at last we see the historical roots of the bolter -the fables “Crossbolters” lost in the mists of time.
