New Range of Busts from Tor Gaming
January 2, 2012 by beerogre
The guys at Tor Gaming are set to produce a range of Horror Busts, for you to test your painting skills on.
These are the pre-production masters, so you can see where the sculptor has smoothed out the surfaces. Once cast these areas will be invisible.
Are there any budding painters out there who fancy an epic challenge like one of these?

I’m a terrible painter, but I really like that Frankenstein’s monster. The vampire is a cool concept but I’d rather have a unit of them in 28mm than one show-piece bust – the flat skin is kind of a waste when you look at the detail Frank and the zombie have on ’em.
Whilst I see what you are saying (and as a non painter agree) the range is aimed at painters. The sort of people that see the Vampire as a canvas for some kick arse freehand.
Imagine the level of blending you can do on the vampires chest and neck area, then free hand a tribal style vampire tattoo over the head. 😉
Fair point. So can we get full models of these in 28mm then? Maybe a 4th faction in relics 😉
This range will have 28mm models in too. They won’t be for Relics, and may not be these busts in 28mm but there will be 28mm models.
It’s going to be a bit of mixed bag of stuff that painters will love (hopefully). There may even be some 40 and 60mm models in the range (and some of these may be Relics related, but not usable for Relics…… 60mm Trooper anyone?)
There’s already a fourth faction – I could swear I saw some greens for the Nuem on Frothers…
Well, you may have seen them in the forum members preview section…. Although you have to be logged in to see the attachments.

Nope, haven’t joined the Relics forums. Frothers pearoasted it:

Looks a bit like a cross between a Rackham dwarf I saw a picture of and Bioshock’s Big Daddy. Interesting stuff, very nice.
Ah, that will be it then.
Just read the thread. Is that really Frothers? No one said the models were 5h!t and stuff like that. Must have been an off day. 😀
D’oh, meant to say there is a load of Nuem art in the rulebook pdf (along with the other three factions). All concept stuff not previewed on the interweb outside the pdf.
Just looked at the new consept work for that 4th faction and it ROCKS! All I need to say is MODOK! I think I’ll add them into every game I play even if it’s historical games, it’s that good 🙂
I’m not much of a bust painter. The zombie stands out the most to me if I was to get into bust painting. Like to see the finished casts when they go up for sale.
I would like to give Frank a go with my paint brush. I think he would look cool on my work desk.
BTW I personally think we should be politically correct with them. That zombie has held the stereotype of eating brains for to long. In truth he’s a vegan and says “Grains, GRAINS!” not “Brains, brains”. So lets be a little more sensitive OK.
Imagine how bad a zombie with veggie gas would be…
Just to give you guys an idea of the detail on the busts, each bust is just under 40mm tall.
I think the sculptor has super human eyesight….
I would love to use my airbrush on these.
I really like the Frankenstein. Never painted any busts before, but might given them a try at some point.
I would love to get a hold on the vampire, reminds me of something Guillermo del Toro would make.
Those are very well sculpted.
Not gonna lie, they look very amateur. But sculptors have gotta start somewhere.
