Raiding, Revelry & Looting the High Seas At Adepticon!
January 26, 2015 by deltagamegirl22
Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!
Pirates- men, women & children, are invited to register for a once in a lifetime pirate adventure at Adepticon : Fist Full of Seamen, with the story line of -"But the pirates are coming." The Year is 1703, and while the European powers squabble in the world's deadliest paternity suit, The War of Spanish Succession, the Caribbean colonies via for the title of Cane-Sugar-Mama of the West Indies.
Gamers will sail around the 800 sq. ft. board, collecting gold and infamy from a dozen Island locations. But beware, and know this- there are ruthless cannibals lurking on islands, a terrifying ghost ship and even the legendary Kraken ready to consume your crew and drag you to the depths! The event will provide enough ships and crew to set sail on the high seas. Captains must be of legal driving age to pilot one of our ships. The under 16 crowd will be provided characters to influence the battles and adventure around the map in search of fame and fortune. Ye only need to sign up!
All participants will receive an AdeptiCon exclusive 28mm Henry Morgan, model sculpted by the talented Michael Owen.
Will you be taking to the high seas for some piracy at Adepticon this year?
That looks amazing!
Fist full of seamen
really.
How is a tar supposed to run up the rigging with his hands covered with innuendo?
Looks fantastic.
(The table, not the sailor’s fist)
Dude, I always crack a smile at your posts. 🙂
Those ships looks awesome. I only see single-deckers, which is actually pretty cool. Too many pirate movies and fiction have pirates cruising around in three-deck, 144-gun ships of the line or galleons. Just enough guns to subdue lightly-armed merchantmen . . . fast enough to outrun anything else!
As you say the three Decker ships were the battleships of the time big lumbering hard hitters’ the single deck ships were fast and nimble some were even made with shallow drafts to attack from unexpected directions the ideal ship for pirates I would say?
the game does sounds very interesting.
I’m no expert in the “Age of Piracy,” @zorg , but yes . . . I have ready that pirate ships liked to be lighter with shallow drafts so they could escape over reefs, shoals, and shallows where heavier, more powerful ships couldn’t follow. They also liked to hide in rivers, channels, etc, to prey on coastal shipping. Finally, weren’t some of the big “pirate hideouts” up in river channels or the Everglades (here in sunny Florida!)?
so when are you doing (indy) bit fighting gators looking for the gold?
PS what is the sun???
Lol! I know. I was counting the minutes until someone went there! Ha!
Bet it only took seconds! lol
Have they got the real Dread pirate Roberts? Barthomew Roberts?
No? Oh, as you wish…
Not sure if I would want to take the pirate ship “Revenge.” I might find myself hunted by every ship in Prince Humperdink’s armada.
“Every ship but your four fastest, you mean.”
Eh . . .
“Every ship but the four you sent.”
“Yes! Naturally not those four . . . “
That looks fantastic.
everyone will be fine as long as they aren’t taking those spiffy ships on a pleasure cruise at night through eel infested waters.
I saw this game at Historicon and it was fantastic. Of course I am a little bias, as many of the ships used in the game are from Old Glory Shipyard ships, which I designed and cast. The group has done an amazing job at rigging the ships as well as painting them. They have done some modifications to a few of the ships.
