PWork Wargames has released their new Official Frostgrave Gaming Mat which you can use when the 2nd Edition of this skirmish wargame releases next month from the folks at Osprey Games.
Official Frostgrave Mat Sizes // PWork Wargames
This mat comes in a variety of different sizes and gives you the look and feel of the ruined city of Felstad which was lost to the ages and the perilous winters of the land. You can see that it is detailed with plenty of snowdrifts which matches the climate and also plenty of ruins which are peeking through from beneath. Combine this with the terrain from Kromlech and you'll have quite the tabletop ready to go.

I always like looking at game mats and what the offer for those trying to dive into games without having to worry too much about tinkering with terrain. Don't get me wrong, I like doing a bit of terrain building now and again but in reality, I'd rather just be playing more!
Some of the details that I really like, and you can see them above, are the footsteps which are dropped throughout some of the snowdrifts. They help to weave a narrative and perhaps give you some guides as to where you should be placing your buildings.
What do you make of this new mat?

Will look forward to another instalment of Warren meets Mat ?
I do not own a winter mat yet and it might well be this one. And not only for Frsotgrave. I have the Northern Alliance for Kings of War, many winter Russians for BA and FoW and more and I believe this is a mat for all of these games.
I’d also look at P-Works Northern Pass mat. It’s a similar mat but rather than bits of medieval footpaths under the snow it’s more open countryside. It’s a lot more scale agnostic and probably a bit better for using it for other game than Frostgrave. I’ve got the Northern Pass mat and it’s in my “core collection” of mats. As an aside, DON’T get the “Arcade Edition” mats from P-Works. The images on the website are not reflective of the actual mat you get in your hands (for example the “Dust Town” mat is a weird green colour instead of… Read more »
Thank you for the advice, Sir.
Hi thanks for your feedback! the Arcade Line has graphics and colors very different from the standard mat (they are brighter and the color contrast is more marked). Standard Dust Town is on grey tone… arcade Dust Town is more dark and green… a lot of people love arcade edition mat because of their vivid and “strong” colours, a lot of other people love standard mats because they prefer a more realistic colors. Arcade line and Standard line are really different!
Wouldn’t stop you updating the website to show the ACTUAL colours of the Arcade Edition mats (rather than relying in a rather abstract text description). At the moment the customer has not got a good idea of what they will receive in the post. Just update the website with accurate photos to allow customers a better pre-view and to be able to make a better decision at point of purchase 🙁
Looks a great winter mat.
That is one great looking game mat.
Is this new, the Frostgrave mat I have looks the same?
The mat is the same: it has been confirmed as official mat also for Frostgrave Second Edition.
It looks great
