PWork Wargames Head To The Mediterranean With New Mat!
November 15, 2022 by brennon
PWork Wargames has added a new gaming mat to their collection for you to use when diving into some wargaming in 28mm. The new Mediterranean design would be a great option for those looking to set up World War II clashes on the tabletop.

The gaming mat comes in a variety of different materials. You can choose from cloth, PVC/Vinyl or Neoprene Rubber. I've seen a lot of folks using the hard-wearing neoprene/rubber gaming mats in the past but it would be rather neat to see the cloth ones in play more often I reckon. Do you have a preference when it comes to the material used?

As mentioned above, this gaming mat would be a great option for those who are looking to put together clashes between the Allies and the Axis in the warmer climate of the Mediterranean. You could see some beach landings and attacks on white-washed towns taking place on this.

Beyond that, the design is generic enough that it could be used for a variety of different games and genres. You could turn this into a big Fantasy battleground or mark it out as the basis for a Sci-Fi scuffle where settlers have begun the process of colonisation on some distant but rather lovely world. Just watch out for the alien killers hiding in the sand!
A nice new mat design from PWork that could end up being the basis of your next tabletop excursion!
Are you tempted by this new mat?

Ooh another great looking mat.
This is the kind of mat I would look to buy. Nothing on the artwork to denote scale (I hate it when they do things like add “rocks”), so useable for anything from 6mm up to 28mm. Alas since the B word, the delivery charges plus VAT soon racks up the price to a point where it’s just not affordable. I did make the mistake early on of buying the rubber mouse mat type of mat in 6’X4′. They are great, however storage is problematical (if I could turn back time, I’d probably buy the cloth versions). I’ve got 4… Read more »
That’s a pretty cool theme. I might pick up another mat and this would work for what games I have in mind.
This looks great for some Flames of War North Africa/Italy battles – just add the relevant scenery!
That is a cracking looking mat, and im sure super versatile too given the mix of colours you could easily use this for just about anything. Strikes me as being particularly good for Caribbean or pacific island type of stuff
