Prodos Expand On The Space Crusade World With Demons & More
March 20, 2016 by brennon
Prodos Games have added some more heroes and villains to their world of Space Crusaders which may take your fancy. You can see the new models below who come in all shapes and sizes. My favourite however is the first of the models, Archon...
I think this is a great looking demon model and he could easily find a place amongst many armies on the tabletop. I've always liked the 'Diablo' styled demons that we see out there and there's plenty of room for him to be in both Sci-Fi and Fantasy games.
Following on from him we have a real rogues gallery...
Belzeeba
Calypso
Lamia
Nyx
Themis
I think that generally these are some better looking miniatures than we'd seen when Space Crusade first hit the internet. Belzeeba and Nyx are the most interesting of the bunch as they do something a bit different and I like the evil and twisted angle they've gone with.
It's a shame that Calypso and Themis are a little stiff looking as I think that they could have made for some great models. Calypso in particular would have looked great bellowing at the top of her voice and in the middle of a swing with that hammer of hers.
What do you think of the offerings?

All of those look really good painted.
are these not painted renders?
I agree that these are a step up from what we’ve previously seen, but they still do nothing for me. Not feeling this one at all.
this is just weird all of it … not at all inspiring
Lamia looks cool but they still do nothing for me.
the mini looks nice but i would love to see a demo of the game so we can know how the game is played I know Prodos do some really deteil mini thats looks great but what about the game , i already have 1 army of Bauhaus witch i love and i have also the AVP game witch is a great game and for this one i am just not sure about the game play 😐
Better than the first lot, still to derivative for my liking, of the bunch abradon the despoiler/dorus (nyx) is the most interesting as you could use her as a fallen SoB in a 40k chaos army…
Coloured renders of uninspired 40k rip offs. I think they are awful.
I was gonna say these are very beautiful if slightly .. weird? Derivative is good enough for me. models but what do you mean “coloured renders” …
…although I think I know now looking closely at the pics. Isn’t that cheating !? And how do they do that anyway ? Didn’t thing a computer could do that sort of shading etc.
Photoshop can mimic airbrushes and do textures no problem. They probably take a 2D shot of the 3D CAD models then hand them off to a digital artist to colour over.
Why is it cheating? Fashion magazines do it all the time : P
Anyway. An improvement on the bikini warriors, I actually might consider one or two of them.
A human paints over the image in photoshop, not a computer. 😛
I don’t disagree but that is what … 95% of all minis being produced these days. Clearly people buying 40K proxies and/or just wanting that aesthetic drives most of the industry. Really artistic, organic feeling, beautiful minis … they are out there being made by companies like Hasslefree, etc. But those companies aren’t growing by leaps and bounds, they are there and they tend to charge a little more for their minis and they seem to stay permanently mom & pop. Then there are endless waves of cardboard CAD render minis which people snatch up like there is no tomorrow.… Read more »
Still boobtastic. Which isn’t doing it for me. The Demon Archon is the best of the lot for me but it is a pretty generic trope in wargaming.
Finally, as this game is called Space Crusaders can we stop dropping that last ‘s’ off and implying that it is somehow the old space crusade returned? Because aside from the not-40K power armour I really don’t think it is.
£30 is a lot for Archon, I assume he is bigger and made of resin ?
All Prodos miniatures are made of resin and according to the shop page (which you could access by clicking on his name) he is 100mm tall.
Very video-game like, definitely vibes of Diablo and WoW and other over-the-top high fantasy. It’s ok… Archon looks like he’d fit in well with Mantic’s demons.
Big improvement over the first batch of models they showed off for the game, the set is really starting to get its own, unified look. Getting a bit of a Diablo II mixed with Doom vibe from these. Still not really my thing, but they’re looking so much better than the first reveal. The detailing we know Prodos can produce seems to be coming out much better on these. Rather curious to find out if hear how the game turned out, understand that AvP turned out rather nicely after some initial tweaks. So the talent seems to be there to… Read more »
I was just about to say the same thing. Once the pin-up style is taken out of the equation you can start to see the sort of theme they’re going for.
The posing on Calypso isn’t great but the demon models look quite good, especially Archon.
These are cool, but not as cool as the first batch of demon sisters. I hope Prodos don’t listen to the wowsers and tone things down any further.
As @robert said, they look like 40K rip-offs, which cheapens the whole thing. Do a game in your own style, not someone else’s. All their other minis look great, but this range is poor. Bad idea.
