Pro Gloria Want Help Funding Their Plastic Landsknecht!
November 3, 2014 by brennon
Pro Gloria have taken to IndieGoGo to fund a range of Plastic Landsknecht and a few character miniatures too. See what you think of these 16th Century soldiers...
The main aim of the campaign is to get these soldiers funded...
"The core frame will contain 10 different bodies plus 20 different heads as well as enough arms to have yours Landsknechts in advancing and marching poses with weapon options for halberds, spears and pikes. The frame will also hold extra swords, pouches and other nice extras.
The command frame will include 2 bodies plus a huge selection of extra heads, enough parts for musicians and banner bearers."
...and other stretch goals and pledges unlock new miniatures, dice, banner stickers, a whole painted set and even some more unlocked special figures.
If you're looking to get yourself some 16th Century soldiers this could be the campaign for you.
What do you think?
I’m wondering if these can’t also be used in some 15th c. battles, such as clashes between HRE and the Burgundians. I like the style, and if the Perry’s aren’t making Landsknecht, I give this a fair chance at success. However, if you’re going to embark on such a project it behooves you to make sure that at least half the links on your website work. Or is it just my computer? Has anyone else browsed the website to see what else they offer and run into the same problem?
Their website doesn’t work properly these days, perhaps since they switched to Facebook as their almost exclusive channel for updates. For an overview have a look at Empress, who carry the whole range http://empressminiatures.com/page64.htm
Quite possibly you could build forces for Archduke Maximilian’s later campaigns (1490s) in Burgundy by mixing these with Perry metals and plastics. Italian Wars are an obvious option, too. However, true Landsknechte would rather be found from the 1500s upwards. To see what’s possible just visit this marvellous blog: http://www.stuartsworkbench.blogspot.co.uk
Thank you @siregodefroy . That’s the plan, including the Perry figures as Burgundians and Swiss. Nice to see there are halberd options in all these ranges, as the way I understand it, they were still held in the center of pike squares. And of course, I can use all of them in the several different human factions that populate my AD&D world.
Really nice looking modes, perhaps it’s the bulky armour and loose fabrics but do these models look more in the ‘heroic’ 28mm scale (ala Nottingham’s Great Satan?) to anyone else?
Either way I like ’em but I think I’d prefer a slender look, which is about as critical as I can possible get.. they look spot on otherwise!
They look blood well perfect and can even be used in dare I say Warhammer Fantasy Empire armies.
Lo and behold, that’s a given. 🙂 So far Pro Gloria models have matched their older (i.e. up to and including 6th edition) WFB Empire counterparts quite nicely, metal ones in particular. Michael Anderson’s sculpts for PG just show that, if GW hadn’t taken a different approach, he could’ve done better with the current rendition of Imperial troops. 😉
