I normally only preorder bits and pieces but this time ill be getting the whole lot. 🙂
Is it just me or is anyone else not really keen on all the smokey, wispy, spirit-y effect they are going for it seems on a lot of the models, particularly the undead these days? Somehow it never really looks very convincing, even when tackled by the best painters and adds enormously to the fragility and difficulty of transport of the models. I have a big Undead army which I use with KoW, and I have bought quite a few undead from many different manufacturers over the years, including GW, but I just can’t make myself like the wispy bits… Read more »
Over all GW does tend to over use sculpted effects in they modern minis and those undead are no different in that sense. It’s likely because CAD sculpting has made adding all that detail far easier that they rarely have restrain not to add those. Still compared to Sigmarines that they come with those are far more interesting looking even with those sculpted effects.
I can see why, but they are all supposed to be ghosts, if you take away the wispy effects, you end up with skeletons.
Agreed. But personally I’d rather see convincing skellybones than uncovincing hard plastic smoke effects. If its not convincing why bother? I accept for a lot of folks it is convincing enough however.
I’m liking the magic effects.
