Pre-Order & Play As Skinks & Cultists In Warcry: Sundered Fate

Games Workshop is firing up pre-orders for their new Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry boxed set this weekend. You're going to be able to snap up Warcry: Sundered Fate and play as sneaky Chameleon Skinks or fiendish Cultists.

The new boxed set comes with (as always) everything that you need to get started in the game. The rules for Warcry are free to download online now (see HERE) or you can get your hands on the physical Core Book instead if you prefer. You do get the Stealth And Stone Warband Tome though that comes with all of the new rules for playing as the two new warbands, The Hunters Of Huanchi...

...and the Jade Obelisk. The Hunters Of Huanchi are sneaky Chameleon Skinks who are going to be scampering their way through the Gnarlwood looking to stop those that seek to rob them of their treasures. You get plenty of blowpipes, bolas and even a few pterodactyl types.

By comparison, the Jade Obelisk are a fascinating cult that has garnered great power from the deity that they worship. But, they are also getting turned to stone slowly as they tap into these powers. It's neat to see how inventive the folks at Games Workshop are being when it comes to the different warbands that we get to play as in Warcry, especially for the Chaos powers. I fully approve of the "we don't worship Chaos" - "Don't you?" vibes going on with the Jade Obelisk. I think they'd be my pick from this particular set.
The fighting continues to take place in the heart of the Gnarlwood where the very trees themselves are seeking to consume everything around them.

You get a few new interesting terrain elements in the set including the hollow refuge which seems like it now plays host to a nest of bones. I would imagine that whilst this would keep the rain off during a particularly bad storm, it might also end up being the maw of some terrible underground creature that uses this as its serving bowl.
Pick Up Previous Warcry Releases
As well as the new set, there are also some chances to pick up previous kits from the Warcry range. All of the terrain from the previous boxed set is now available separately as part of the Gnarlwood Watchcamp set for example.

You can also pick up both of the warbands from the initial set. This means that you can pick up the Horns Of Hashut and the Rotmire Creed separately and use them in Warcry or you could even dive in and have a go at using them in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar if you prefer.

Rotmire Creed Warband // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry
As mentioned above, the core rules for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry are now free to download. So, if you were tempted but didn't want to go down the route of paying for a massive new boxed set, you could potentially just get one of these warband boxes and play with your friends using the resources online.
Warcry seems to be quite the neat little skirmish game for The Mortal Realms and Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. I have certainly been tempted myself. When the Jade Obelisk warband becomes available later on down the line away from the boxed set, I might be snapping them up.
What do you make of Warcry?

I don’t play this game, but I must take my hat off to the GW design team for the freshness and originality of the sculpts.
I wonder what the next Warcry box set will have? I guess I will have to wait another two months or less to find out! ?
I see what you did there 😉
The terrain boxes I like. Hoping they do similar with Kill Team.
Edit: there’s every chance they did and I forgot. I just don’t know any more.
Nice nice stuff.
Those are really nice.
Lately GW have been doing some good box sets with two interesting factions.
I do like this box. Might have to consider it.
