Pre-Order New Anglo-Zulu War Starter Armies From Warlord!
December 20, 2021 by brennon
Warlord Games has put together two Starter Army sets for those wanting to dive into the Anglo-Zulu War on the tabletop in Black Powder. You can pick up a set for the British and the Zulus alongside a pair of limited edition characters too.
British Starter Army Box // Warlord Games
The British Starter Army comes with sixty plastic British Infantry (see below) alongside twenty of the Natal Native Contingent. Drawn from the Basuto and Mponso tribes, they were invaluable to the British, able to teach them about the tactics the Zulus might employ.

As well as the plastic miniatures to get you started, you'll also find Brevet Major Henry Spalding (at least for this pre-order period). I'm sure that folks who are familiar with Rorke's Drift will know of how he was embroiled in events. Of course, nothing bad could happen...
Talking of bad things happening, here is the Zulu Starter Army that is ready to stick it to the British at Rorke's Drift and beyond on the tabletop.
Zulu Starter Army Box // Warlord Games
This set comes with a heck of a lot of Zulus. You get forty Married Zulus and forty Unmarried Zulus, all of which are available in plastic. An incredibly effective army made up of fierce and proud warriors.

This set also comes with Dabulamanzi KaMpande who commanded the Zulu army at Rorke's Drift. He also led forces at the siege of Eshowe and the battle of Isandlwana and Gingindlovu. He was a well-respected war leader and had links with the royalty of the time too.
An awesome set of miniatures that will no doubt be a fun present for someone looking to get started with the Anglo-Zulu War in 2022. A neat release considering the anniversary of the battle rolling around soon-ish.
Are you going to be picking up these sets?

These are a standard but personally I went with Newline 20mm you will be surprised, or not, with the level of detail ?
Very nice looking figures I think a certain slender man will be getting 1 or 6 boxes of these fine African warriors.
The sandbags on the boxes don’t have stripes!
When someone says no stripes on sandbags I now point out they aren’t sand bags but mealie bags.
I really can’t get into another time period, but these are really tempting
The real question for me is, will the Henry Spalding miniature be released separately? I’ve got loads of Zulu war Brits for a Praetorian Guard 40k army, and already have a few likenesses from the film rendition as a nod… Would love that one too, but don’t need the massive set alongside it.
Warlord tends to make these special figures available individually eventually. Might be few years though!
