Games Workshop will be taking Warhammer: The Horus Heresy - Legions Imperialis pre-orders this weekend for the Mechanicum and more. You'll be able to play out battles as the Mechanicum itself or take on the role of the traitorous Dark Mechanicum.

The Rise Of The Dark Mechanicum - Legions Imperialis ALT

The Rise Of The Dark Mechanicum // Legions Imperialis

The Rise Of The Dark Mechanicum leads the way and is another expansion book for Legions Imperialis. It contains, as you might have guessed, rules for the Dark Mechanicum but also the Loyalist Mechanicum.

The narrative of the book focuses on the Doom Of Magma City which then launches the Mechanicum into the wider Heresy breaking out across the galaxy. You'll find linked missions and new rules for an Escalation Campaign plus army lists for the Mechanicum Taghmata and the Dark Mechanicum. A fun bonus is that you'll also find rules for running entire armies of Titans and Questoris Knights.

To aid in your games, you can also get your hands on the Mechanicum Army Cards.

This contains quick reference cards for the Mechanicum Taghmata and Dark Mechanicum as well as Formations and Detachment cards for each faction. You will need the full book mentioned above to make use of your armies as a heads-up.

Mechanicum Miniatures & More

Leading the way for the miniatures this week, you have the Mechanicum Battle Group.

This set comes absolutely packed full of miniatures for getting started as either the Loyalists or the Traitors. You can find a full breakdown of what's actually in this set HERE.

Stomping and shaking the earth behind the Mechanicum Battle Group, you can also pre-order the Knight House Battle Group which has rules in the new book mentioned above.

If you want to get even more into big walkers and even bigger weapons, you can also order the Titan Battle Group. These miniatures can now be deployed as their own unique armies in Legions Imperialis. I suppose it would make it easier than diving into Adeptus Titanicus.

All of these miniatures tie back into the new book and the unfolding narrative within The Horus Heresy. Very much the power of the Forge Of Mars on display!

Whilst not available during the pre-order period, some more Dark Mechanicum miniatures did get shown off last week.

Battle & Assault Stalkers - Legions Imperialis

Battle & Assault Stalkers // Legions Imperialis

If you're looking to go long range then you might want to make use of the Tennebrax ‘Archer’ Battle Stalker Cohort but if you prefer getting stuck into close combat, you can choose the Errax ‘Butcher’ Assault Stalker Cohort. A solid way for you to spear enemies from range and then mince infantry up close and personal.

You can also get your hands on the terrifying Harpax ‘Swarmer’ Scout Hosts which are cyber-drones that float in front of your army as chaff. If you don't destroy them, they can actually be very deadly through the sheer weight of numbers.

The Dark Mechanicum will get their unique units soon so keep an eye out for these. Up until that point, you'll have a lot of basic Mechanicum miniatures that you need to get painted. That should keep you busy.

Legions Imperialis Terrain

If you're looking to give your tabletop Mechanicum vibes, you can also pre-order the Manufactorum Imperialis Sector.

This set comes with enough terrain elements to build a Manufactorum. You get silos, pipes, cranes and more that look like they are super explosive. Slot these in alongside the hab-blocks and spires to create a dynamic and interesting Legions Imperialis tabletop.

Are you going to be picking up these new kits and more for Legions Imperialis?
