Bring Pomp To Your Sci-Fi With Wargames Atlantic Preview
September 4, 2019 by brennon
Wargames Atlantic this week showed off another preview of what lies ahead for their Sci-Fi range known as Death Fields. Here we have a look at some finished and painted members of 'Les Grognards'...
The set has been painted up here as you can see by Matthew Leahy and he has done a sterling job on the models. There is a little bit of the Vostroyans about them with those large bearskins but I think you even get a little flavour of the Praetorian Guard from them too thanks to the overall look.
Of course, this means that they would be a pretty damn good fit for anyone doing an Astra Militarum/Imperial Guard force on the tabletop in Warhammer 40,000. It seems like you get a good array of different weapon options in the kit too with standard rifles, grenade launchers, a flamer and elements to make a commander too.
The set will come with twenty-four miniatures in hard plastic and from what we know of their previous work, they should be a doddle to put together.
Are you tempted by these when they release later in Autumn?
"...you get a good array of different weapon options in the kit too with standard rifles, grenade launchers, a flamer and elements to make a commander too"
There nice
Looks like a great sci-fi army.
Love those. The mix of Napoleonic Old Guard Bearskin,WW1 / WW2 Helmet and Foreign Legion Kepi head styles is great. That’s another box or two to add to the list.
Oh yes! Plus there is a enough heads of each that you can do them all in bearskins if you wish! “Napoleon in Space” would be a great name for a game as well 🙂
Ah, on the planet of Wa’Ta’Loo 😉
You have to add a number to the end or it’s not really sci fi. Wa’talo IV
18 or 15 might be better number for the planet 🙂 I really don’t need another project though!
I think they look good in the Adrian helmet
@torros definitely my favourite. If I was to make a full army with this would definitely have the bulk in the Adrians. Bearskins for HQ units, and use the Kepi’s for artillery and tank crews. I’d wait for some British style troops before I did a penal legion 🙂
Lol I like the name. Quite interesting. Different. Kinda Vostroyan(?) kinda French. I like them
They’d be great for alt-Vostroyans, alt-Death Korps, or even the Scintillan Fusiliers if you want to go REALLY obscure.
Yeah. Never heard of the Scintillan Fusiliers before. They’d work for those too!
this company is doing some good stuff!! knocking ideas out the park! Now my kitbashed/greenstuff imperial guard futuristic napoleonic engineer has a squad to go with
Looking awesome! I can’t wait for the full release of these guys to add a specialist unit to my existing army. The Adrian/gas mask combo is by far my favorite.
Those are really nice.
I love the name of the regiment “Les Grognards”. Well played
Oh god, I can’t, just can’t do another Guard Army (already got 3) but these look absolutely awesome…
Nope sorry ….. I was looking forwards to these (after seeing the concept art with the Adriane Helmet), but these look awful. The main reason is the legs, both the pose “80’s rock star axe attack” AND the sculpt (the sculptor just hasn’t managed to do the greatcoat/turnbacks without it ending up looking like some form of A-Line skirt. For some reason quite a few sculptors have great difficultly doing greatcoats well, I wonder if that’s because it’s an issue with CAD sculpting). But they could have been SO much better, hopefully there might be a third party offering that… Read more »
