Pokémon TCG has evolved as much as the Eevee family has. With a ton of new generations flooding the deck with new pokemon, new variants and all the shinies a girl could ask for. Pokemon TCG is evolving once more, marking Pokémon TCG Live as the new digital platform to play the game.

UK: Your Adventure Awaits! | Pokémon Trading Card Game Live // The Pokémon Company

To compare this app to something with familiarity, the new Pokémon TCG Live will be similar or equivalent to Magic: Arena or Yu-Gi-Oh: Master Duel, meaning that there will not be a storyline or the fact we are looking at another Pokémon video game. Pokémon TCG Live will provide a competitive and casual digital platform to play the game, whether that be by phone app or by logging in via desktop.

Opening up the title to worldwide players, the app will allow players to get a few games of Pokémon against others in the world. Humans, not bots! Whether you want to play casually or get sweaty in some competitive ranked mode, there are different choices for a strategy to allow players to test out their decks, or hoard in some prizes.

Pokemon TCG Live - The Pokemon Company

Moving away from Pokemon TCG Online, the current platform will be removed from both Google Play Store and the App Store, along with retiring the platform on the Pokémon website. The Pokémon Company are working hard to make sure that all players will be able to get their account and game data transferred over with ease when Pokémon TCG Live is released.

The Pokemon Company will be continuing to work with Dire Wolf Digital - the brains behind many board and card game digital adaptions, companion apps and get to develop their work further moving from Pokémon TCG Online to Pokémon TCG Live. There is no release date for the platform just yet, or when Pokémon Online will be going down - but the beta is currently running Canada with the hope to be seen here in the UK and the rest of the world "soon".

Me, I like my cards all wrapped up in protective packaging which keeps my grubby paint-covered mitts off of them, and safely away from my demon cat Pascal. I really do prefer gaming in the physical - alas! Pokémon GO! did fantastic when it hit app stores, so what this could mean is more intrigue to the tabletop making the card game more accessible to a wider market than it has ever been.

Do you think we might see the Pokemon craze once more in the future?
