Pike & Shotte’s Ottomans Receive Janissary Archer Support
October 10, 2015 by brennon
The Ottoman Empire in Warlord Games' Pike & Shotte are getting some ranged fire support in the form of the good old Archer. There are two flavours of set for you to pick from with both Advancing & Firing giving you a way to mix and match regiments...
The Janissary were a group of fairly young fighters who were converted to Islam at a young age and turned into a fierce fighting force for the Sultan under harsh and disciplined training regimes.
You could, if you were so inclined to realism, have the models all painted the same and then when they are marching use the Advancing Archers before switching them out for the Firing Archers when they are stationary and taking part in the battle.
It sounds like a rather 'rivet counter' way of doing things but I think it could be quite fun if you were really into the realism of your historical conflict.
The models are neat although I would have had the Advancing ones facing forward a little more because it does look like they are doing a bit of a dance at the moment.
What do you think of the models?

Those are really nice.
Is it me or do their legs look too short?
I think it’s the billowing trousers. They do make the legs a little short and chunky.
Can’t touch this
They have such short stubby legs because they spend so much time with their feet propped up on little cushioned foot stools.
I don’t think there as nice as the Old Glory ones
