Piano Wargames’ Price Of Crowns 3 Kickstarter Campaign Launches
May 18, 2022 by brennon
After two successful Kickstarter campaigns, Piano Wargames and Lucas Luber are back with the third in their The Price Of Crowns series. Dive back into the Napoleonic War and follow the expansion of The Grand Duchies of Hessen-Darmstadt and Würzburg forces.

The focus this time is on two brand new armies for the Confederation Of The Rhine. On the one side of things, you have the Grand Duchy Of Hessen-Darmstadt.

Napoleon was said to have remarked, "From now on we shall no longer say "as brave as a Frenchman" but rather "as brave as a Hessian"!" which seems like high praise indeed. As with all of the previous releases, the miniatures for this campaign come in metal and at the 28mm scale so they should fit in well with other ranges out there.
On the other side of this clash, you have the Grand Duchy Of Würzburg.

They had become an independent state in 1805 and were under the leadership of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Tuscany until 1814. Despite having distinctly different cultures, they were said to have bled side-by-side with Napoleon's troops during some of his deadliest campaigns.
These soldiers found themselves in Spain and as far north as the snowy climate of Russia. Very few of them ever got the chance to return to their homeland after these campaigns which is extremely sad!
The miniatures for both forces have been designed for the period of 1806 through to 1812 and some of the sets have interchangeable heads. You get all of the core infantry that you would need alongside the artillery and cavalry for each force.
There are even some additional Spain Line Infantry as part of this particular Kickstarter if you want to get fancy.

Stretch Goals are also in the works for the likes of Emperor Napoleon (see below) and much more besides...

The campaign is incredibly well-funded and has around eighteen or so days left on it for you to get involved. So, if you wanted to play as someone a little different in your Napoleonic wargames then maybe this could be for you. There are also digital options as well as the white metal miniatures for those more digitally inclined!
Are you going to be backing this one?

Fabulous looking figures.
Lovely
Fantastic looking figures yet again by Lucas and great to see his continued focus on the smaller states in the Confederation of the Rhine. I think the Napoleon figure is possibly one of the best I’ve seen so far!
As per the previous Kickstarter backed the STL files and will look forward to printing these off in the future. A very affordable way to create either some unique big battalions or a smaller sharp practice force.
Quite a big buy in to import a physical pledge into the UK. If they ever go to Baden (esp if there are scruffy Badeners like the Hessians this time) I’ll be giving some serious thought to a big enough one.
I think I may have pointed you towards them before, but Murawski Miniatures have some lovely Baden figures.
I’ve certainly drooled over those, probably at your direction, yes
