Perry’s Napoleonic French Prepare to Fight in Egypt
January 18, 2016 by dracs
Perry Miniatures are currently working on a few new Napoleonic figures and have just shown off the upcoming miniatures for the French Fusiliers campaigning in Egypt.
Sculpted wearing Kleber ordinance uniforms, these were apparently a bit different from the normal French blue uniforms in that they sported a number of colours. However, the more standard blue uniforms were used beforehand in the Syrian campaign of 1799.
I would love to see how these look once fully painted up. Multi-coloured, they would definitely stand out from the more usual French armies. Not knowing much about the French Napoleonic armies in Egypt, I'd be interested in seeing more of these models from Perry.
Can you history buffs tell us more about this period of Napoleonic warfare?

Napoleon found the Rosetta Stone which translated the Hieroglyphs and then some stuff happened with the… Read more »
teeny bit of an oversimplification 😉 hehehe. Numerous reasons for the Egyptian campaign, one of them being the ongoing war in India between the British EIC and Tippu Sultan. Pie in the sky thinking but not only would the colonisation of Egypt grant France all of it’s cotton needs, additional grain, access to the Middle East and it’s markets but it could possibly grant them access to India. Never really materialised but with gold and glory acquired, the long term goals seemed increasingly impossible so Boney cut his losses and returned home a hero. The defeat of Tippu certainly quashed… Read more »
It was fun to be so relaxed about history compared to the normal way I have to write 🙂
