Perry Miniatures Preview More Upcoming Franco Prussian Soldiers

Perry Miniatures have previewed some more work-in-progress images of their new Prussian Infantry who are coming to the tabletop soon for the Franco Prussian War period.

Many of the core elements that make up these kits have been finalised and as you can see here there is a good mix of different options with standing soldiers and others kneeling and firing. You've also got a good range of arms with which to pose the models so that you can have them suit your particular style.
As well as working on a lot of the standard soldiers for these upcoming plastic kits we're also seeing some more previews of the Command element that will be leading them into battle too.

As per usual when it comes to the Perry Miniatures kits I would imagine that you are going to be getting quite a lot of different options to play around with and they should mix nicely with the metal range by them too.

Whilst these have been designed for the Franco Prussian War, the folks at Perry Miniatures have said that they could be used to fight the Danes in 1864 or perhaps even put up against the likes of the Austrians, Bavarians, Wuttemburgers and such through the 1860s.
There is no hard and fast release date for these new miniatures because of the new lockdown in the UK but I'm sure we won't have long to wait until they are on tabletops and painting tables.

They look fabulous figures.
This looks to be another well detailed range for period that deserves a little more support
Interesting minis and a conflict I know little about (A level history covered it but didn’t dwell much on the military nuts and bolts).
I’m guessing this is more a Black Powder/Sharpe Practice type era than Bolt Action/Chain of Command but it is merely a guess.
I was wondering something similar on seeing these models – how did the armies fight in the Franco-Prussian war? I’m not certain it would be as simple as extrapolating between the American Civil War and WWI. I’d guess that Black Powder is possibly more appropriate, but I wonder whether the typical Napoleonic era formations would still be applicable.
Strictly speaking, German units were still sometimes found to be advancing in column formations all the way up to the opening months of WW1. Much easier to move large numbers of troops when in a column, that being said, the Austro-Prussian War and the Second Schleswig War were unique in the Prussian adoption of loose order and generally speaking more modern skirmish techniques while the Austrians were still in stiff lines. I think the old Flame and Sword rule set might be a better fit, but since they did the Zulu war with it yeah Black Powder would be a good rule set for them. Of course you could always go the non-historic route and use them for a fantasy setting with Bolt Action as the rules (could add tanks and things that way).
