Peculiar Companions Bring Their Imperial Army To Kickstarter
April 16, 2021 by brennon
Joy Games Interactives' Peculiar Companions is making 3D Printable miniatures via Patreon but they are also coming to Kickstarter soon. Their new funding project for a Holy Roman Empire army is going to be going live on 20th April.
The Holy Roman Empire // Joy Games Interactive
The heart of this new project is going to be centred on making a new set of Fantasy miniatures inspired by the Imperial Army of the Holy Roman Empire. This means 15th and 16th Century influences, plenty of slashed silk and a familiar look for those who love this period and/or The Empire of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.
One of the core pledges for the campaign is based around this Imperial Army and providing you with everything you'd need to print off to run one on the tabletop.

For $30 you get all of the cavalry, infantry and characters that you'd need to make a pretty damn good army. When you factor in the relatively cheap cost of the materials (well, after buying a 3D Printer) this means you could have quite the army that costs time more than anything.
If you're lamenting the loss of your Empire army then this might be a good way to bring that back to life. As well as the humans that we see above, the campaign is also looking to introduce a bunch of other Fantasy elements too like Ogres.
As I mentioned above, Peculiar Companions has also been working on 3D Printing files for wargaming through Patreon and there is already a pretty extensive library for you to choose from on their website too. Maybe this could be the next place you look for your 9th Age force?
Are you liking the look of this Imperial Army?

They look good, but I won’t be getting any 3D printer any time soon.
Nice flamboyant uniforms I can see them being added to old Hammer Midland? force’s
Doesnt look like a historical army, but more fantasy. Better to write that it is for Warhammer and similar than loosing credibility by claiming it to be for HRE.
I have written that it’s more of a Fantasy army than it is Historical.
Yes, I agree to that, that is what I write as well. My comment was towards Peculiar Companion, they should also just have said that and skipped the talk about HRE and historical…
Hello Janus! Let me point that i never claim them to be historycal, i literally put on my profiles (website, thingiverse, patreon, facebook) that i do “fantasy strongly inspired by real world cultures/factions”. SO, when it is the turn for a fantasy human faction, whose design is stronly influenced by real world cultures, it is quite compatible with historical. Like the Spaniards i did, and now, the HRE. In the core pledge, all except the flagellants, are units with lots of previous reference gathering and investigation, even the shoes and daggers are designed following historycal refences. Still, i do fantasy or… Read more »
Hi,
You are naturally correct, I should have checked the original (and the information in the article above) text better and not jumped to conclusions. The models looks good and deserve the interest of anyone looking for a Empire replacement. I hope you are successful with the Kickstarter and perhaps even consider “truly” historical miniatures in the future, as the .stl market for this is quite immature compared to the wealth of different fantasy offerings.
Thanks for your words.
And yes, i have lots of already made bits and parts to make historicals in the future (i would be around 15-16th century always, i like that period a lot).
We will see what happens 😀 !
I think these would go great with some MoM minis
Intersting, getting a strong Empire vibe from WFB, I wouldnt say these are paticually good for historicals given the ammount of minis avaiable that are actually a historical fit for the Holy Roman Empire.
Will be intresting to see the prices as I might pick them up, though I dont think i can forgive the Round bases, those should have been square, would have got the intrest of all the WFB fans 😉
Hello! the models are STL files for 3D printing, and they come without bases, it was the painter s choice (tho, i didnt expected him to chose rounds bases haha), so bases issues are not a problem 😀
