Para Bellum Unite The Hundred Kingdoms For A Conquest Faction Teaser
October 19, 2018 by dracs
Para Bellum have a released a teaser video, giving us a glimpse into the background of one of Conquest's factions: The Hundred Kingdoms.
The Hundred Kingdoms form the most diverse and widest-reaching territories of humanity.
Descended from those refugees that survived the dark times of the Fall, The Hundred Kingdoms have rarely seen peace, with many dynasties all competing to for dominance.
“A great bush of wild roses· that is what the Kingdoms are. Endless thorns and blossoms of crimson blood, sharing a distant, common root.”
- Charles Armatellum
The more Para Bellum reveal about their game's world, the more I want to dig in deeper. I love the idea of such a diverse faction as The Hundred Kingdoms, as this should provide plenty of opportunities for epic stories where humanity must come together, or for individual kingdoms to struggle to assert themselves.
Will you side with the armies of The Hundred Kingdoms?

It’s hard to fault Para Bellum’s presentation. I hope i like the game and the miniatures because this is a universe i’d like to play in.
I’ve been demoing this game in the UK with an early resin set that I was sent (The real deal is plastic).
I’ve been doin it since April. Not because I have any contractual obligation to but because I really love it. I honestly believe that this is the most modern, innovative and dynamic mass battle ruleset I’ve played in nearly 30 years gaming.
Army sizes are reasonable (even for a _mass battle game_)and scales up and down perfectly.
I can’t fault it.
Good grief that’s a chunky lookin’ box
looks good.
They nail art and worldbuilding, the minis didnt enamour me yet though.
The plastics are starting to roll out now and from what I’ve seen, they are far sharper and finer detailed than the resin prototypes they’ve been touring with.
Ofc if it’s the actual design concepts you are unenamoured (new word XD) with, that’s little help, hehe.
Plastic drones and plastic (painted) steel legion are on the last page or 2 here:

Fantastic trailer, from art, writing and that chilling, unearthly voice. This may be the only mass battle game I will get into, looking forward to more reveals.
Nearly everything about this game interests or enthuses me, and this trailer was great too. If it was 28/32mm I’m sure I’d be salivating and ready to dive right in. The larger scale they’ve gone for gives me pause though. Given limited time and storage space, part of me knows that I shouldn’t start something else, and so the scale may be the barrier that prevents me from doing so. It’s not so much that I’m against different scales (I play games that are 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 20mm), it’s that I fear that with the larger scale of these… Read more »
Do you mean ‘if it wasn’t 28/32mm’? Because the tag here indicateds it is 32mm ( heroic ).
There’s nothing “heroic” about the scaling. It’s just bigger. @35mm is fairly accurate but the scaling of all appendages and weapons is proportional and realistic.
Everything about this game excites me
Well, you’re certainly ticking the boxes for me. I much appreciate the feedback @twodeesick.
That said, i would have preferred 28mm. Do you happen to know how tall a standard human infantry miniature is?
Taller than a space marine, shorter than a Primaris. They stand (Some quite dynamically) on 25mm round bases.
The scale was chosen because when the first minis were made in 28 mm, they were too fine for plastic. The option was make them bigger or compromise the design for the sake of manufacture.
I think they made the right choice.
I would have been happy to paint in the details and have more gaming space, as it were. But the proof will be in the pudding. I might just have found a game for myself.
I meant things like spear shafts, swords and wrists were too narrow and would snap easily unless made disproportionately oversized. Not the detail itself 😉
Appreciate the clairification. I’d have risked it 🙂 I’m happy with delicate pieces.
Me too.
I think the majority disagree though.
Esp with reference to minis like Infinity, which are now (weren’t always) accurately proportional.
Lots of complaints about the detail be too small to paint properly.
Although metal makes them that bit more robust, mass production on the scale Para Bellum are doing isn’t viable.
I knew it would be those other people again. I’m glad they’re not metal though.
Love the art work and background for this game so far, they are putting a lot of effort into it and it looks like it’s been worthwhile. Not sure if I need a new big battle fantasy game in my life, but it’s definitely intriguing.
I didn’t think u needed a new one in my life what with kow, AoS and 9th age but I had a glance….
(Saw The minis up close, demoed the game, talked with staff on lore)
…Now I can’t look away.
I need this in my life XD
