Para Bellum Tease Two New Mystical Characters For Conquest

March 9, 2020 by brennon

Para Bellum Wargames has taken a look at two more characters which will be joining the fray in Conquest soon. We start with a character for the Dweghom, the Tempered Steelshaper.

Tempered Steelshaper - Conquest

With a powerful connection with the very essence of the material that they are able to control, the Steelshapers are a group of Dweghom who are sometimes seen as alien to their own kind. There is little telling where their armour ends and their flesh begins and they strange in character, grim and resolute to their task. No doubt they will be key in your force if you want to try and gain mastery over metal and use it to both benefit your own forces and damn your opponents.

I love the look of them too in the sculpt. There is something almost Labyrinth-esque in their appearance and I like that it's even a little bit Sci-Fi to see this melding of the synthetic and the natural. A very nice alternative direction for the Dweghom.

Master The Cold

As well as the cold hearts of the Steelshapers we also have the masters of winter and ice that are the Nord Shamans.

Shaman - Conquest

At one time shunned by the majority of Nord society, the people of the frozen North have now decided to call upon their aid once more. Because they were once cast out from society only the hardiest of them have survived and it is an unwise foe who seeks to challenge their mastery of the natural world.

I think you can see all of that in this sculpt too. He holds a commanding pose, ready to bring his staff up to cast some devasting spell. Also, he is an old greybeard and has no doubt seen much in his time. If there is anything I've learned from Joe Abercrombie's books, it's not to underestimate what's going on in the back of a wizard's mind.

What do you make of these new options for the Dweghom and Nords?
