Osprey’s Black Ops Rules Now Available To Buy
October 21, 2015 by brennon
Osprey Games have released their new rules set for playing small scale skirmishes and stealth missions with covert operations troops. The cover for Black Ops looks epic and the blurb sounds like it's right up my street with a bit of near-future warfare...
"Black Ops is a skirmish wargame of tactical espionage combat that recreates the tension and excitement of modern action-thrillers such as the Bond and Bourne films. The fast-play rules keep all the players in the thick of the action, while the mission generator provides a wide range of options for scenarios - from stealthy extraction or surveillance missions to more overt raids and assaults.
Stealth, combat, and technical expertise all have a role to play, and players may recruit a number of different operative types - spies, mercenaries, criminals, hackers, special forces, and many more - to recruit the best possible team for the job.
Players may also choose to join a faction - powerful organizations, intelligence agencies, criminal syndicates, militaries, or rebel groups, each with a stake in international affairs. By doing so, their team may receive certain benefits, but may also find itself limited at a crucial time.
With the variety offered by the characters, factions, and scenarios, no two games of Black Ops should ever be the same!"
It's time to break out a range of the modern humans from Hasslefree and strike against your friends in Splinter Cell stealth missions and more.
Will you be getting this book?

I’m going to try and do a very quick review as I have my copy sitting here.
Got mine Yesterday, Best rules for Modern combat for me, All feels right. The stealth rules and the rules for Guards is a key feature of these rules and is a clever thing too…Guards do there random thing until the alarm go`s off Etc.. 10 types of factions, and post costs to design your own too.. Prefect for battles from the Falklands to Now..also will work great for future xbox games for the tabletop like the division and Ghost recon wildlands. The only thing I will say is the cover makes the book look very near future cyberpunk feel, Yes… Read more »
Just ordered a copy for £7.52 on Amazon!
A couple of things that stand out for me are the rules on activating your models and the noise rules for detecting each other on stealth missions.
Screw that! I’ll just buy everything Osprey releases…
…that tends to be my opinion! Ordered it last night.
Seems like the cover is almost a direct rip off of Shadowrun.
Sounds good, just ordered a copy! Those hasslefree mini’s look sexy. Be fun to run a mini campaign etc . Could also be used for a tabletop version of payday or something similar !
…how are you going to to simulate the micro-transactions?
copy ordered 🙂 thinking some mutant chronicles adventuring with this ruleset could be fun
