Osprey Bringing Cyberpunk Skirmish Game Reality’s Edge Out In 2019
June 25, 2018 by brennon
This Is Not A Test author Joseph McGuire is back with another rulebook alongside Osprey Games this time with Reality's Edge: Cyberpunk Skirmish Rules.
The game will have a focus on telling stories of Cyberpunk battles throughout a futuristic city called The Sprawl. It will also have the tried and tested This Is Not A Test mechanics underpinning the system and how it plays.
Here's some more on the game...
"Battles take place in the concrete jungle known as the Sprawl, but data-jacks must remain wary of the threat posed by Cyberspace. Hacking rules are pivotal to the game, with data nodes, robots, machines, and even enemy chrome presenting potential targets for a cunning data-jack. No-one plugged into Cyberspace is entirely safe from intrusion, and the electronic sprites and digital djinn you can deploy alongside your team can be just as dangerous as any mercenary or assassin.
Gameplay focuses on individual characters, with each skirmish offering you the opportunity to earn experience and equipment for your data-jack and operatives. A wide range of items and upgrades are available, from advanced weaponry and synthetics through to cyber-implants, biological enhancements, clones, and much more. This is a world obsessed with whether something can be done, not whether it should."
Anything Cyberpunk is catching my eye right now, and there are plenty of good ranges to pick from when it comes to snagging models to play this game.

Got a few Osprey games, the best known being Frostgrave (the Grimoire and Maze of Malcor arrived today).
Cyberpunk might work well with Sine Tempore miniatures when that KS arrives.
I’d say the minis from Human Interface: Nakamuro Tower (http://www.hint-thegame.com/) and Human Interface: Be a better human (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1803723298/human-interface-be-a-better-human) would probably fit the setting better.
A combination of Human Interface and/or Infinity miniatures and you’re good to go!
And not fond of infinity…. Boring setting.
I dropped out of Human Interface sequel and never backed original. Didn’t like the sculpts.
Exciting!!!! I’ve been really interested in This is not a Test, but the price point for the physical book is pretty steep. Osprey books are a little easier on the wallet. ?
Given the amount of Cyberpunk style stuff I have ended up with for playing Shadowrun I think I could be tempted into this. Osprey books are usually fairly reasonably priced
looks interesting love the dark future like ghost or b-runner.
Nice, looking forward to this.
Interesting that they chose to name their city “The Sprawl”. Evokes Shadowrun for sure, especially when factoring in the overall theme.
With Catalyst basically shelving Shadowrun: Sprawl Gangers because, well the only way to put it is, “minis are hard” and with the trouble now lasting a few years it seems like it is time to get some Shadowrun skirmish going with a game that will be available.
I love that Osprey have decided to get involved with the games industry more directly with the aforementioned games, Gaslands, and working with Battlefront on Nam and Fate of a Nation they seem to have gotten a good thing going.
This looks like a winner.
Given the number of miniature games uot there, I have always been confused as to why there were very few (if any!) cyberpunk games. This sounds like it’ll definitely fill a niche – and there’s plenty of suitable minis about!
