Games Workshop are diving back into Warhammer: The Old World this weekend with pre-orders live for the return of the Orc & Goblin Tribes. You'll be able to get your hands on a good mix of plastic, metal and Forge World resin miniatures for building up your Waaagh!

Leading the way is the big Battalion boxed set which will act as the starting point for a lot of people in Warhammer: The Old World. The set comes with thirty-one Orc Boyz who can be armed with spears and shields, choppas and shields or double choppas. There is also a single command set allowing you to make a larger regiment. They are backed up by forty Goblins who can be armed with shortbows and spears and shields as well as multiple command groups so you can make sure they stand their ground.

This is all then capped off with two Orc Boar Chariots which you can sit on the flanks of your army, rushing around enemy formations so they can hit flanks and cause maximum mayhem. There are also a bunch of transfers in the set for you to use on your banners.

New & Returning Heroes

As well as the big new plastic set, there are lots of individual releases also coming out for your Orc & Goblin Tribes. For example, you can get your hands on the Black Orc Bigboss who is crafted in Forge World Resin as a fun new miniature to lead your armies.

This new miniature can also be backed up by some older miniatures from the days of yore. The classic Orc Bosses set of old allows you to make two leaders for your army. This is a great set for those looking to make a Battle Standard Bearer for your army.

Sticking with the Forge World Resin, some of these mad miniatures from the archives are making their way to the tabletop. If you're someone who prefers your Night Goblins then you can get a great set of miniatures featuring over-the-top banners, magical effects and monstrous squigs.

Forge World Resin also allows the folks at Games Workshop to do some fun things with old miniatures that were just destined to fall over and crush everything beneath them. This Warboss on Wyvern is pretty impressive and a classic from the older range. Hopefully, you won't have to do too much in the way of pinning this time.

There are some impressive characters for you to snap up from Games Workshop for the Orc & Goblin Tribes and this is by no means all of them. A whole host more is available to check out on their pre-order blog. Make sure to go and have a peek at what's coming out and then get your pre-orders in this weekend!

Returning Troops & Monsters

The classic Orc Boyz Mob is also going to be available separately from the Battalion that we have already looked at.

Goblin troops have not been added into the mix just yet although I can't imagine it will be long before we can get our hands on Night (and regular) Goblins for use in your games. I know a lot of people like their Orcs but there will be folks out there wanting to do Goblin-only armies too.

For those wanting to go a little more Oldhammer, there are some properly classic metal Orcs also returning to the range for you to use in your army building.

These Big'uns could be great for those looking to add a more elite quality to their armies and perhaps match up with the older miniatures you might have sitting in a box somewhere. These are absolutely stunning sculpts.

Sticking with the idea of something a bit different, there are also these Badland Ogre Bulls who are going to be great for those needing (even more) muscle in their Orc & Goblin Tribes army. I know an Ogre fan who might want to get their hands on these for their own army.

I think these are great and it's ace to see how many different miniatures Games Workshop have pulled out of retirement. I hope they will be able to produce enough of these so people can get their hands on them!

Last but not least, we also have a few monstrous additions to your army. How about the classic Giant And Bonegrinder Giant?

As mentioned above, this is by no means all of the miniatures that you'll be able to get your hands on for the Orc & Goblin Tribes. There is a really good mix of plastic, metal and Forge World Resin kits coming up for pre-order this week allowing you to make some frankly glorious armies.

Orc & Goblin Tribes Rules & Gubbins

As well as all the miniatures, there are some new rules and more for you to scoop up for your armies.

Arcane Journal Orc & Goblin Tribes - Warhammer The Old World

Arcane Journal - Orc & Goblin Tribes // Warhammer: The Old World

This softback book comes with lots of additional lore, art and more for the Orc & Goblin Tribes but you don't need it to run your armies. If you already have Ravening Hordes then you're good to go. This book simply adds a little more for those seeking to make alternative armies. You'll get two historical scenarios to play, two special characters to lead armies, two Armies Of Infamy and a new spell lore. There will also be additional units like Troll Hags, Bonegrinder Giants and Badland Ogre Bulls.

For those seeking to show their allegiance to the greenskins, you can also get this Dice Set and Reference Card Pack.

You'll be able to roll in style and check up on your units a lot easier in the heat of battle. This is a pretty wild set of pre-orders for the Orcs & Goblins and makes me very happy considering that Dwarfs must be next on the dance card.

What do you make of this new Warhammer: The Old World release?
