Oathsworn Miniatures Sculpt Up Some More Grizzled Animal Warriors!
March 2, 2015 by brennon
I bet you never thought a Marmot, Hare and Dormouse could look so burly and epic right? Well, check out what Oathsworn Miniatures have been up to as they sculpted up those three animals into something spectacular. I love all three of them!
They are looking fairly awesome I'd say and I love the stance of the Hare with sword down by his side, a lop-eared swagger to his gait, and a look of someone who just got told he wasn't getting a carrot any time soon.
If I had to come up with a story for these three then I'd say that they were a mercenary band that happened to fall in together. Hare used to be an old veteran for a forgotten and long fallen Kingdom while Marmot was a burly bruiser who found himself in the employ of Hare one day in a tavern and decided to stick by his side. Dormouse is the newest addition to the team because of her quick mind and even quicker bow arm, joining the group for a bit of extra coin.
As well as the sculpting they've also been working on some cool concept art for what's coming up next. Another Mouse is on the cards, a female this time, alongside a neat looking Mole Monk (can't wait for that one) and a Fox Rogue. I reckon I could spend all day coming up with stories for this lot!
What do you think of the designs?

Those are looking really promising.
Redwall the miniatures game anyone?!
Seriously though, these actually seem to come close to capturing that Brian Jacques vibe I always took from the artwork – especially in the concept art seen above. I mean that mole monk could have come straight off of a page in a Redwall book and that hare just screams ‘long patrol’. I wonder if that’s been an overt inlfuence?
Ahh, the mere thought of such a thing coming to pass…
I sculpted them, and yes, I’m a big Redwall fan! Although I’ll take anything with anthro animals in it… I used to love The Wind in the Willows as a kid, and characters like Reepicheep from C.S. Lewis’s books.
But I liked the Redwall books best; because the setting has a much more medieval feel to it.
The sculpting I’m doing for this range though is a bit more fantasy than Redwall I guess – more ‘Redwall meets D&D’…
Anyway, I’d better get back to the sculpting; there’s 2 moles and a hedgehog sitting here waiting for heads!
If I was allowed to give you more thumbs up I would 😉 Love the look of this collection already and can’t wait for more!

Then you sir are a hero and your work will continue to make many of us misty eyed. I think many of us owe a lot to BJ and I would love to own a range of these models. I get exactly what you mean by aiming for that slightly more fantasy angle – and I think you’re spot on to do so. Other anthro animal minis often seem to me to be a bit cartoony but these have a nice dash of grit to them.
Wishing you all the best with these.
I seen the quality of the dwarfs – I think this one will be the one that pull me in as well
Oooh, Redwall game would be ace.
Absolutely epic, I have a set of rules somewhere on a place called “Tanglewood” a school for fighting animals sort of a place where animals of the good fight the growing threat from the evil animals, weasel’s, rat’s and the lost moles who follow the darker distant tunnels. Badgers have tried to stay out of the way of the coming war, but find their kind are split following each order. The squirrels grey and red are two flighty but act as messengers for armies of the coming storm. The warriors of Tanglewood search for the one a beast of unknown… Read more »
