Oathsworn Tip Their Hat To A Cheeky Looking Magpie
June 7, 2019 by brennon
Oathsworn Miniatures showed off a fantastic new miniature ahead of UK Games Expo last weekend. Here is the Magpie which is most likely going to become part of their next Burrows & Badgers Kickstarter.
As I mentioned when Michael from Oathsworn showed this off, it's one for sorrow and two for joy! Alas, we're only getting one of these but that certainly means sorrow for your opponents I would imagine.
You could imagine this Magpie as a paymaster of sorts, making sure that all the shiny gold and silver picked up by your warband gets safely stored away for a rainy day. Once again there's a lot of character built into this sculpt and it's going to be a joy to paint.
Also, check out just how big that Red Kite is in comparison!

Can´t wait for the next Kickstarter…
Me neither… working on it! Nearly finished a squirrel highlander today… 🙂
@oathsworn Michael… any chance for the Hare Bard? ^^ Pleeeeaaaaase… pretty please… 😀
Arrrgh more tartan….
I’m putting money aside especially for it. Can’t wait 😉
@jocke – probably not going to be a hare bard… To be honest, I’m struggling to see the point of bards for Burrows & Badgers, really. But I’m open to being convinced! 😉
Barden Magic… for Buffs and Crowd Controll spells… and to be honest, bards and minstrells are looking quite amazing. Also you can get some D&D fans to buy minis for their characters. 😉
But given we don’t have Barden Magic in the game, and the scale of B&B minis doesn’t really work for D&D, I’m not sure it’s worth it, really.
Maybe something we could add in a supplement later…
I hadn’t thought of it until now but there’s a folk band-themed warband in there somewhere, maybe some morris dancers?
No need for special rules – the fluff alone would keep me going for years 🙂
I’m gonna be all over the next KS.
I’m officially more excited for a massive hound than I am for the next loyalist primarch. 😀
No pressure, then! :0
I’m currently thinking either an English Bulldog (a bit shorter than the other Massive models, but very bulky) or a Border Collie (taller, but lighter). Leaning towards the bulldog…
Hmmm. Hard to choose…
…
Do both! 😀
And that wolf… 😉
You could go for a clan style irish wolfhound, they’re big so it’d work as massive with the current dog minis not being too scaled down in comparison.
There are too many Oaththings. Right now we have this Oathsworn, the game Oathsworn and Oathmark. When will the Oathmadness end?
Lovely magpie btw.
Definitely too many – we were first, though! I’m thinking of demanding tribute… 😉
There can be only one. FIIIIIGHT! ?
You aren’t kidding about fun to paint. The fabrics on that dapper fellow just scream out for bright colors and patterns. He does like his shiny after all.
I’m going to play with some iridescent medium on his feathers… no idea if it’ll work, though!
In some parts of the UK and Ireland you would doff your hat when you see a single magpie to ward off the bad luck, I do wonder if this is the inspiration behind the pose. I normally say “Hi Mr Magpie” to ward of the bad luck, so this model is going to have me talking to myself even more!
Yep, the hat thing was the inspiration! 🙂
Those are looking really nice.
@lovejoy those look great.
Im looking forward to see what you produce next.
Maggie the Dodge lone shark?
