Oakbound Woods Is Filled With Many Celtic Curiosities
August 13, 2014 by brennon
Folk from the Oakbound Woods is currently on Kickstarter and is looking for funding to make their miniatures from Celtic mythology for use with role-playing and anything else you might desire for the tabletop...
Some of the more human sculpts in the range are well, less than desirable, but their actual creature sculpts are very nice indeed. If you look at some of the creatures in the Merfolk collection for example there are some neat twisted pieces to pick up. I do particularly like the Nuckelavee (ah The Bard's Tale taught me so much).
I get the same vibe on these two sets as well. The Minefolk, although my first draw weren't quite what I was looking for but the Woodfolk are awesome. I love the cool Dryad and the Boggarts are brilliantly funny!
A bit of a hit and a miss with this one potentially but there are a fair few miniatures within the Kickstarter that deserve another look I think.
What do you think?
I’m seeing play dough…
I would say this is someone that has entry level sculpting skills (much better that what I can do) but most likely hasn’t had a career in the model making industry. Time will make his/her skills all the better.
Even though metal 28mm minis are my thing
and some of the concepts of these are cool
the sculpting on these will keep me from backing this one
