Oakbound Studio Working On The Woods 2nd Edition
February 23, 2019 by brennon
Oakbound Studio is working on bringing a 2nd Edition of The Woods to tabletops with pre-orders live now ahead of a release at Salute this year.
This new edition of the game is a reworking of some of the mechanics from the original, bringing you into a Bronze Age world populated with creatures and characters from British and European folklore.
Throughout the game, you'll learn of the Tuatha, a race of mortals who are reeling in the wake of a fae invasion from afar. The game is focused on strategic play which also introduces plenty of character and narrative into the equation as well.
In addition to that, a range of miniatures will also be making an appearance with an old school feel to them and a Brian Foud-like style. The game sounds right up my street, mixing together folklore and fae creatures into a world which is unlike many of the games we see on the tabletop nowadays.
I will be following this one closely!

Is a card game or a models based adventure ?
It’s a miniatures game.
I’ve been playing it for a couple of years alongside my Saga games. The first edition was a pretty neat toolkit but somewhat hard to break into. There was a video from Green Stuff Games interviewing the creator and it seems like they’ve done some good things to make the second edition more accessible from the off, I’ll definitely be looking to pick up the new rulebook.
A Brian Froud-like style?! Count me in.
