Learn Your Norse Mythology With Neil Gaiman
September 17, 2016 by brennon
While not exactly anything to do with Wargaming this might be helpful for those of you who want to explore Norse Mythology and bring it to the tabletop. Neil Gaiman brings his own spin to the tales of Giants, Gods, Trolls and Dwarves in his new book coming out next year on February 7th 2017.
"Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales.
In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.
Gaiman stays true to the myths while vividly reincarnating Odin, the highest of the high, wise, daring, and cunning; Thor, Odin's son, incredibly strong yet not the wisest of gods; and Loki, the son of giants, a trickster and unsurpassable manipulator.
From Gaiman's deft and witty prose emerges the gods with their fiercely competitive natures, their susceptibility to being duped and to dupe others, and their tendency to let passion ignite their actions, making these long-ago myths breathe pungent life again."
Maybe after reading this you'll be tempted to try something new in games like SAGA, Of Gods & Mortals, Blood Eagle and more.
Do you think you'd pick this up?

Now, could we get a big-budget version of Neverwhere at some point?
Oh great news(because I love Neverwhere too the old BBC series was okay but I’d lovce to see what they could do now days)
Seems like something that is must buy.
I cannot wait to read this.
related literature, that’s a fine idea.
it sounds very cool.
Looks interesting – as long as he does the old gods and characters justice and treats them with respect. Will be dropping into some Viking related sites on my way through Denmark next month and can’t get enough of this stuff.
When is this out?
February next year
I am excited about this release!! I can’t wait to read it. It was interesting on FB he received some push back as if his retelling would not be accurate. From his response his love for the original Edda’s and early translations and retellings that he has used for research. He will be giving the Gods justice.
@mage looks like Feb 7,2017 according to his Facebook page.
