New “The Batman” Set Coming Soon From Knight Models
March 7, 2022 by brennon
Knight Models are going to be allowing those who enjoyed The Batman in cinemas recently to play as the newest Dark Knight on the tabletop soon. A new Starter Set is on the way for the 3rd Edition of the 35mm skirmish game.

This new set is, of course, going to feature the new Robert Pattinson Batman going up against the criminals of Gotham City. At the end of last week, we'd only see the box cover but over the weekend we got a look at their render for Batman.
The Batman Miniature Preview // Knight Models
This take on Batman comes stood astride a gargoyle, watching over the streets of Gotham down below. Whilst I appreciate that from a mini-vignette standpoint, it would be neat to see if the miniature for Batman himself can be taken off that and placed on a normal base. That way you could use the gargoyle for displays and then switch him over for gameplay.
From some of Knight Model's comments over on Facebook, it seems like this will be the case. The next step is seeing which foes Batman is going to be coming up against when this set releases.
Are you tempted to snap this one up?

With their newer models, it is usually the case that the model comes on a display base or can be moved over to a smaller version of said base. However, they almost always have a display element to their base, so if you’re hoping he’ll be able to be mounted on a non-gargoyle base you’re probably going to be disappointed. To be honest though, I’ve never understood people’s issue with scenery elements on bases. Unless you’re using the clear bases, your minis are dragging around a piece of ground/pavement/grass/whatever no matter what you do. So for me it’s completely irrelevant… Read more »
I am one of those people. It’s not so much that the base has details on it that move with the mini, it is the sheer size of some of the scenery pieces that are being built into the bases. The Batsignal on Commissioner Gordon’s base for example is so large that it should be a scenery piece all by itself. It is a man leaning up against something bigger than he is which moves around the table with him. Or Ra’s Al Ghul forever emerging from a Lazarus pit no matter where he is (I realise there are options… Read more »
exactly that.
there is a huge difference between:
(1) a base with some bits of scenery with a mini
and
(2) a giant set piece with a mini attached
What these guys do feels a bit like they’re designing a diorama first and then they remember that it needs to work in a game too.
The diorama starts to dominate the game and you kind of forget that there’s a mini on it that actually is doing the work.
Never seen the new Batman film is the film/game darker than the other’s?
Went to see it Saturday. Its heavily influenced by the movie zodiac and has the feel of a detective movie rather than a standard Batman film. So It is different from the other Batman movies with some good acting but I didn’t find anything original overall. Colin Farrell was a surprise but to me the movie felt overlong and unnecessary but my mate Stu helped add the special effects so was great to watch it with him and see his name up there at the end. I hope you enjoy it more than I did ?
Ooh may be worth a watch & the game could be worth playing.
Certainly worth a watch. Hope you enjoy
Odd. I’ve felt that a lot of Batman films have had a feel of a detective/criminal investigation film.
Of course, the Batman franchise runs the gamut.
“Good Acting” seems to put it squarely opposed to Batman and Robin where Tommy Lee Jones must have been instructed to pretend that he’s in a high school production pretending to be Jim Carey.
I hope you enjoy when you get chance to see it ?
I feel like I already watched this movie – Christopher Nolan did 3 of them didn’t he? (2 were ok) – yeah zero interest in any of this for me!
It is a very different film to the Nolan trilogy, it is by no means a rehash. I’d say it is the freshest take on a cinematic Batman since Michael Keaton.
It takes some chances on how it portrays some well known characters and is less of an action movie with the focus on Batman being a detective over swooping around punching everything. Not that there isn’t plenty of action as well, the benefit of a 3 hour run time is that there is more space to fit stuff in, but it doesn’t drag either.
Interesting comparison. Tim Burton’s take on Batman was a very fresh take that has informed most subsequent portrayals of Batman (including the comics).
I’ve been unimpressed with DC’s offerings lately, but Batman has potential.
Yes, renders look best in the dark.
