New Stormcast Prosecutors Soar Into Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
April 30, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop previewed another new set of miniatures for the upcoming new edition of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. The Stormcast Eternals are getting themselves some updated sculpts for their Prosecutors. Soar into battle with your storm-wreathed javelins and smite your foes.

The new Stormcast Eternals Prosecutors are now clad in the new Thunderstrike armour that has adorned the forces of Sigmar since the third edition of the game. This is a slimmed-down set of armour that as well as looking rather nice, has a lore reason for existing. It helps the souls of the Stormcast blast their way back to Azyr without being claimed by the Ruinous Powers.
The new armour style for the Stormcast Eternals Prosecutors also switches things up when it comes to wing design. Rather than the sunburst design (as Games Workshop puts it), there is now the flaming look which steps away from the purely angelic look that they had previously to make them into avenging angels.

I think I prefer the new wing design and the new armour looks great but I reckon that I will go for the closed helmets when the set arrives. I would also assume that the set is going to get some weapon options allowing the Prosecutors to do battle with these javelins and shields or celestial hammers.

I also appreciate that the new Prosecutors are still flying but without being attached to the base with fluttering cloth. They are now more firmly attached to the base with those rocky outcrops that they are swooping past. It should make the miniatures a lot easier to paint and transport.
There was also some news about their abilities as they became part of the Ruination Chamber. They now have a once-per-turn ability where they can shrug off an ability used against them. There might be some benefits to being reforged so much that you're on the edge of madness.
The new designs for the Stormcast Eternals look much more in line with the original artwork by John Blanche that came about during the concept stage for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. It certainly has a more Grimdark feel to it which matches up to the darker narrative that Games Workshop are exploring in the new edition.
What do you make of the new Stormcast Eternals Prosecutors?

So are these “new” Stromcast (in the fancy Thunderstrike armour) a similar retcon (well not really a retcon, but an entire replacement for a range/faction of exisitng figures) to what the Space Marine players had to deal with when the Primaris Marines came out. The Primaris were “tru-scale” (which I liked), but it was the entire powercreep of these new marines over the old ones that stuck in the craw. So are Stormcast players having to look at ditching their armies to buy them again in a new (now with added Powercreep) format? GW have a habit of redoing rules… Read more »
