New Reroll App Creates Pixel Art Visual Character Sheets
May 14, 2019 by brennon
A new app called Reroll has popped up on Kickstarter which looks to create visual character sheets for your Dungeons & Dragons characters using pixel art and a plethora of customisation options.
The app allows you to do all the things you'd normally be able to do with a character sheet, storing your statistics and important information that you'll need during gameplay but it also then allows you to create awesome pixel art versions of your characters too.
Each of the characters is created from hundreds of different pixel art parts which can then be assembled in different ways to show off the armour, weapons, animal companions and more that you've managed to pick up along the way.
All weapons, armour and such can be customised and they've just unlocked the stretch goal which allows you to add important information under each entry, giving a backstory to your various objects of power.
Kickstarter backers will also get themselves a slot for animal companions and animated weapons too for when you need to add that magical flare.
Tokens for using these pixel versions of your characters have been unlocked for use in Roll20 PLUS you can now get new races, weapons, bases, and more thanks to their unlocked stretch goals. Oh, and it works on web platforms now too.
The game has a pretty low buy-in cost which will get you access to the program and if you want to go even further you can even get some special artwork done by their team too.
Could this be an app you'd use?

Only yesterday I said there would soon be something like this in a forum post…
You are clearly a prophet 😉
I did expect 3D renders (something like Guild Wars 2 character generation), not low res pixels.
If I want a picture for my current RPG character (or NPC when I’m GM) I just search online. There’s a lot of fantasy and SF imagery out there to inspire you.
Until I made the mistake of buying a printer that will only use official (stupidly expensive) ink I used to make 6×4 cards for NPC’s. One side was the picture and other was game stats.
Nah, I’m good. Pen & Paper is (to me at least) something that is really “free from tech”. Except maybe the background music.
With a lot of people playing RPGs online, this is a great resource for them as it helps add another dimension to their characters.
So, whilst I agree that it’s good to drop the tech now and again, more options like this are great for people who want to visualise their characters 🙂
I’m not saying that this thing doesn’t has it use case but not for me 😉 RPGs I play on my computer are 100% single player games like Skyrim (and I don’t need no CharSheet there) or offline… and that’s where I take a break from technology. Working as a sysadmin makes you appreciate spaces without any tech 😉
I used to play and review computer games for a living, but when I got home I couldn’t look at a computer game never mind play one, so I can understand your reluctance to tech at home.
That is very sincerely cool! Would very much get back into playing RPGs if this was available!
