Whilst a lot of focus is on the Matched Play format for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar, my favourite way to play the game is Path To Glory. With that in mind, I was happy to see a new Path To Glory book coming out for the new edition of the game from Games Workshop, Ravaged Coast.

Path To Glory Ravaged Coast - Warhammer Age Of Sigmar

Path To Glory: Ravaged Coast // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar

Based on the old rules from Warhammer-That-Was, Path To Glory allows you to build an army up from its beginnings, giving your heroes and units special rules and more through a series of narratively focused battles. Ravaged Coast expands on the mechanics from the Core Rules and covers armies yet to have their own Battletomes for the new edition.

One of the big additions to Path To Glory in Ravaged Coast is the inclusion of new Paths for your characters and units to walk. As you play games, your army gains experience and that can be spent on these Paths to give them bonus rules, shaping them into unique fighters that can fulfil different battlefield roles.

These ten new paths expand the options from the Core Rules with more for the likes of Cavalry, Beasts and Monsters as well as your standard warriors. Whilst the new Battletomes come with specific Paths for your faction of choice, having more general options will be good for giving you different ways to set yourself apart from your fellow Path To Glory players.

A new Anvil Of Apotheosis will also be included so, rather than having to wait for your Battletome, you can craft your own unique hero to lead your Path To Glory army.

Another new addition to Path To Glory comes in the form of Battle Wounds and Battle Scars. As it currently stands, there's no downside to a unit getting defeated in battle but now these injuries will start to mount up and you could find units entirely wiped out if you're not careful. I am intrigued to see how this works as I'm not a massive fan of this in an army-based campaign game where you have to put a LOT more effort into painting and modelling compared to a smaller warband-style game.

Fighting on the Ravaged Coast of Aqshy also means access to Emberstone and this is a new resource for Path To Glory. Using Emberstone that you've acquired in battle allows your smiths to craft new and unique weapons for your heroes to wield with bonuses that you can see in the chart below.

All of this comes together as part of a linked campaign for you to play through. As you battle from the Adamantine Chain to Hel's Claw you'll play out twelve all-new scenarios that give you a narrative focus for your continuing fighting. Extra units and heroes that you gain might also be able to take a more integral role in your battles, appearing as reinforcements and such.

I am all for this and will certainly be picking it up for my games. I could use this for my current Fyreslayers Path To Glory army but I might also take the opportunity to build a new Stormcast Eternals force based around these rules.

Are you going to be scooping this up?
