New Heroes Of The Sacrosanct Chamber Detailed For Age Of Sigmar
June 28, 2018 by brennon
As with the Nighthaunt, so the Stormcast Eternals call upon new heroes to fight for Order in Age Of Sigmar. This week, Games Workshop previewed the rules for the two new heroes of the Sacrosanct Chamber, starting with Astreia Soulbright.
Astreia is one of the foremost of her order, searching for a way to stop the flaw that is slowly eating away at the souls of the Stormcast Eternal. She has travelled all across the Mortal Realms, clashing with mighty beasts and nefarious foes in order to find an answer to this growing problem.
As you might imagine, she is a Mage of the highest quality and can bring some devastating magic down on the battlefield. She is also a Stormcast in her own right, able to hold her own in a fight, especially on the back of her mount, the Dracoline Kazra.
Mighty Battlemages
As well as Asteia, we also have Aventis Firestrike who is also mounted atop a mythical beast. His hefty Tauralon carries him into battle where he wields his magical power to smite even the deadliest foes and turn them into dust.
He was once a mage who clashed with Chaos during the invasion of the Mortal Realm and though he fell he was reforged as a Lord-Arcanum and now vows to never let another city fall to Chaos whilst he still breaths.
He is going to be a monster on the tabletop with ten wounds, a 3+ save and the ability to heal a wound each turn thanks to the Thunderhead Crown. When everyone talks about mages being weaklings who get pushed around...point at this guy!
You can find full rules for both of these characters over on the Warhammer Community website.
Which of these would you pick?

Ooh great looking beast’s fantastic model’s
Wow, awesome “minis”!
I prefer the first one, less of a hassle to carry around though. Really thinking i’ll get it, mostly for the mount, as i don’t play AoS…
Those beasts do look great unlike they riders.
Stormcast aren’t my thing, just don’t see the appeal. The first beast is alright. Second one I saw first as a mini pic on my phone and thought great Pegasus – then I saw the head – back to not getting it
That almost-a-pegasus is fantastic.
I like these, very nice miniatures for your heroes.
Superb, gutted my missus has gone with Stormcast.
No thanks. Another miss, especially the stilted mounts and their lame musculature.
Whilst perfectly nice looking models, these look cartoonish (in a bad way) and like toys which is a problem a lot of GW’s AoS models are facing.
GW are more than capable of making their plastic CAD models look like pieces of art – but these models look like toys.
If it wasn’t for the wonderful Nighthaunt stuff – based on pre-existing GW athestic note – this release would have been a failure.
As it is though, it looks set to be a massive success. So I guess they know what they’re doing.
Sorry I can stay quiet no longer – these beasts are terrible. GW’s stupid legal dept have it seems banned them from drawing on the existing pantheon of fantastic beasts, they can now only produce new ones(???). Each new GW beastie looks like something from that pantheon only a bit different – doh! We now have a big dog with scales(yawn) and a Pegasus but with horns where the ears should be, ears where the eyes should be and otherwise pretty much the same(yawn!).
