New Fantasy Conquistador Adventurers Revealed By Antediluvian
November 7, 2018 by brennon
Antediluvian Miniatures are working towards releasing a large range of Fantasy Conquistadors onto the tabletop for you to use in your skirmish games. Over on Facebook this week the team showed off more of the characters that will be taking up the quest.
At the point of the sword, we have Rodriguez The Swordsman here who is a proper dashing gentleman. You could imagine him fencing for the honour of a beautiful damsel or accidentally cracking open a cursed treasure chest and having to swash his way out of quite the buckle.
Bashing Faith
Following on from him we have the quite mad looking Monk.
I always found it funny that the Monks of the Medieval period got around the whole 'not spilling blood' thing by using big whopping maces which could actually almost liquify the organs of someone in heavy armour if they were hit right. They were not nice weapons!
You could imagine this fellow trying to convince the natives that their Gods are not worth the icons they've been built into, only to be chased through the jungle by angry tribesmen.
Squat Adventurer
Finally, we also got to see the Fantasy element come into its own with the Dwarf.
Armed and armoured in some splendid attire he looks like he has just watched his friends head get cut off, or his buddy munched by a massive monster. There is a perfect moment of ashen horror captured on that face I'd say!
Hopefully, it won't be long until we can see this Fantasy Conquistator range pop up on their webstore proper so we can send our crews off to explore new worlds.
What do you think?

Would be nice to see the dwarf next to the others for a sense of scale as bar the beard it’s hard to tell he’s a dwarf on his own.
The monk /priest figure could be handy.
Definitely get some of that range. Love the Antediluvian collection.
Is it me, or does the mad monk look a bit like Justin?
looks interesting, are they true-scale 28mm or heroic?
Is there any evidence that clerics in history tried to get around some ban on the spilling of blood by using clubs and maces?
I know clerics and churches have supported genocide, sponsored slavery, invested in arms manufacturers, etc., but have they ever taken up arms as individuals? I find it hard to believe that anyone justifying the act of violence / war would need to restrict themselves to certain weapons in order to do so.
Of course, fantasy clerics with clubs look cool, so I’m not complaining, but just wondered if there’s any truth in the reference to history.
Bishop Odo in 1066 immediately springs to mind
Clubs and maces have been used as symbols of authority on the battlefield through ancient and medieval history. Bishops and clerics were certainly amongst those in authority and there is plenty of evidence to suggest that they carried them in battle too.
That said they were just as capable of spilling blood as any other weapon. So I tend to believe it was an authority symbol. Bishop Odo is depicted with a club in Bayeux tapestry and so is his half brother Duke William.
Those are really nice.
