Kromlech has released a new set of miniatures for those wanting to build up an alternative army of humans in your grimdark wargames and beyond. These Sci-Fi Desert Raiders are on the warpath with some new troops and a bunch of vehicles.

At the head of this set of releases, we have the Desert Raiders Command Squad. With this set, you get a handful of veteran troops that are supporting a banner bearer for this particular company alongside a Captain guiding the way. All of these fellows look to be armed with las/autoguns (I tend to think that these kinds of desert troops would use autoguns) and the leader is hefting around a big power fist. A solid set for those wanting to take command of the battlefield.

As well as the Command Squad, you are also able to pick up a set of Infantry that will form the bulk of your army going forward.

The set comes with a bunch of soldiers clad in their desert attire. I really like the face masks, goggles and such that you get with this kit. It makes sense that they would be properly covered up if they were fighting out in the middle of an irradiated desert or something. You get a bunch of rifles in the set but then some specialist weapons like a flamer and grenade launcher. There are also bonus options for you to tinker around with depending on the enemy you're going to be facing.

It will be neat to see if we get more kits for the Desert Raiders but you could of course use the bitz from this kit to help customise your different artillery and vehicle crews. Talking of vehicles, the folks at Kromlech have four walkers for you to add to the mix!

All of these walker/tanks are giving me Thunderbirds vibes for some reason. I do think that the walkers work for use in the desert though as it would certainly stop you from getting bogged down when traversing the dunes.

Each of the tanks could be used to represent various vehicles within the Astra Militarum army list if you were planning on playing Warhammer 40,000. There are transport options here, artillery pieces taking pot shots at range and even a flamer variant that allows you to burn everything to the ground.
