P-P-Pick Up New Age Of Sigmar Mortal Realms Partwork
November 21, 2019 by brennon
Games Workshop has been chatting about a new partwork which is going to be available here in the UK and (bizarrely) Spain. This one is going to take you delving into the world of Age Of Sigmar and the Mortal Realms.
Delve Into Age Of Sigmar @ Store.OnTableTop
Much like with other partwork magazines, this is going to allow you to slowly build up an army for both the Stormcast Eternals and the Nighthaunt. Alongside the miniatures which they will teach you to put together and paint over a number of weeks, you'll also get the paints to do so and of course some tactical advice on playing the game and getting stuck into it.
Here is a look at the final selection which not only contains the two armies but also some of the big terrain elements too from Age Of Sigmar.
I thought that partwork magazines had vanished back in the 90s when I was growing up but apparently they are still alive and well. By all accounts, the one that Games Workshop worked on for Warhammer 40,000 wasn't that bad and I'd assume this is going to be equally harmless.
I do like the idea of perhaps getting a couple of your kids into this at the same time. Buy the magazine for both of them and divide up the contents so that they can play around with building each of their armies a bit at a time. It would be decidedly less daunting than facing a mass of grey right out of the date. You better hope they have the attention span though...I never did.
As well as the miniatures you can see here the new partwork will also come with the exclusive model, Knight-Incantor Xandria Azurebolt.
So, if you fancy picking up a fancy exclusive miniature at the same time as delving into crafting a new army, this might be for you. You can find out more about the new Mortal Realms magazine HERE where a mailing list is now online.
Could this tempt you into Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar?

I didn’t collect the 40k one but a few of the channels I watch on YouTube did. It seemed a relatively cheap way to build two armies. As you say, less daunting than that mountain of plastic arriving all at once
It starts cheap. I got the first two issues of 40k version to help build a Kill Team.
However, part works seldom work out cheap. The first couple of issues have paints, minis and brushes, but as the series goes on the value included decreases.
Few years back there was a build a Millennium Falcom kit that would cost almost £900 by the time it was completed. That’s a lot of money.
There were a planned 80 issues for the 40k with all but the first two being £7.99… so you’re looking at over £600 for the two armies.
The 40k one seemed to have its moments: vehicles, walkers, what have you.
I’d have a go at a partwork one day but it’d be more like the Millennium Falcon than the GW ones. Yes it’s expensive, but it may be a prolonged project I could actually complete.
I may be very wrong on this, but I remember some “boffins” on Dakka Dakka added up what you get for the 40k one, and it did work out a lot cheaper than buying directly from GW, but whether it is good value for you or not is whether you consider a Space Marine Chaplain is worth £22.50 from GW. (The thread is 60 odd pages and I am not inclined to look through it to find the exact numbers). Picking an choosing which issues to pick up is perhaps worth your while, like £16 for a Chaos Rhino isn’t… Read more »
UK and Spain… just like conquest…. GW really starts to **** me of. I was registered for the conquest magazine and then it got cancelled way past it day of release… what are they trying to achieve by this?
Perhaps it’s a weird thing with there being paint in the mix for these?
AFAIR there was/is paint with conquest too and that’s generally not an issue. Do we know if Spain gets a translated version or simply the English version?
Maybe GW just stopped caring about markets they need translations for to sell their products?
I don’t know on that – it has a different provider according to the article they published so I would assume it is translated.
And the Spanish link in the article leads to a “404 not found” XD GW at it’s best… it was exactly the same with conquest. Cheers mate and sorry for being the grumpy one all the time.
I think the 40K one is great, even for big kids like me. Good value way of adding to your collection and plenty of reading for those special bathroom sitting down moments. Basically costs you the price of a fish supper and a bottle of pop a week – or an ok bottle of wine.
I can remember back when GW and some partworks provider collaborated on a Lord of the Rings pw. The local chain toy shop, no longer in business, saw an uptick in sales of the GW LotR line and were quite glad the partworks was on sale. Not that we in NZ get a full range of the partworks, which all seem to come from the UK, some of the recent ones I have bought the odd issue from are: 2000AD Hardcover collection Batmobile Diecast – useful for Knight Models Batman game Star Trek Ships (The last two by Eaglemoss) Battles… Read more »
It really sucks not having a decent way to get these over here in the United States. I have been really wanting to get a few partsworks magazines like the Judge Dredd one. This looks grand and I’d totally buy into it…but I have been told by the partsworks companies that it’s licencing issues that prevent them for selling here.
Blah.
🙁
Looks like a great mag and I know @mage got great value out of the 40k one.
But I wouldn’t touch anything from Hachette Partworks again. I signed up to 40k Legends and it’s been an absolute misery trying to get the books. I can’t wait to finish the collection just so I never have to deal with them again.
Not a fan of “partworks” magazines, they always end up costing more than what individual purchases would end up with, but I hope enough of issue 1 will hit ebay to flood the market, I could go for some 2-3 pound chainrasps.
Am I the only one that sees that in the third picture with the golden armoured ‘lady’ that the cloth is hanging from her nipples?
I think it’s supposed to start from below her cuirass, and the ornament on her chest plate is giving that look. Though I do sympathize with you on the face sculpt; rather than following the Raging Heroes method, GW seems to be following the Tumblr method and saying that it’s a crime for women to be pretty.
It is hard to look feminine in plate armour and they are presumably body builders too… but you’re right that GW don’t do pretty…
However… saying someone is pretty can get you in as much trouble as saying they’re not. You have to be careful with compliments… if I understand the modern mindset correctly (my mind is older and running an old operating system) making any sort of comment on appearance is going to get you in trouble.
The modern mindset is best described as “mind your own business”. Not a hard concept to grasp really, it’s been around forever.
Someone taking to much warpdust just releasing in two country’s?
