Spread The Rot With New Age Of Sigmar Maggotkin Battletome
December 6, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop is fleshing out the twisted followers of Grandfather Nurgle for Warhammer Age Of Sigmar this weekend. Pre-orders go live for the new Battletome alongside a brand new Vanguard set and Sorcerer for you to use when spreading the plague.
Maggotkin Of Nurgle - Battletome // Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar

This new book comes with completely updated rules for playing as the forces of Nurgle on the tabletop. You will find new Battle Traits, Command Traits, Artefacts of Power, Spell Lores and even Path To Glory rules. So, alongside the likes of the Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Warclans, you can begin with a smaller warband and then build them up into a full army.
New Sorcerer Miniature
As well as the new book, you also have the brand new Rotbringer Sorcerer which offers up a new miniature for you to use when building up your force.
Rotbringer Sorcerer // Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar
He comes with two different heads. He is already pretty fly-like but you can swap out the cowled head for the face of a horrifically mutated fly. I personally like the cowled head, I am a massive fan of hoods in general. I wonder if you could tweak it to just a few of the fly bits poking out from under the hood?
A New Pestilent Host
In addition to the new Sorcerer and the new Battletome, you also have this new Vanguard set (a bit like the Combat Patrols from Warhammer 40,000).
Vanguard - Maggotkin Of Nurgle // Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar
You get a band of Plaugebearers shuffling across the battlefield, a pair of Blightlords, the Putrid Blightkings and the Spoilpox Scrivener. So, a good way to start out with the Maggotkin Of Nurgle with a mix of mortals and daemons at your beck and call.
This release crept its way into the schedule it seems but it will no doubt be a welcome addition to Warhammer: Age Of Sigmar for veteran followers of the Plague God. They are certainly one of the factions that are very easy to paint up and get ready for the tabletop. Being dirty and messy is what they love best!
Are you going to be picking up this army?

Gross!
Aka a complete success from the sculptor.
GW definitely do very well with their Nurgle range both for AOS and 40k.
Just as an example of that, their 40K Daemon Prince Mortarion “miniature” I think is a work of art – where as their Magnus is just ok.
These look equally silly and excellent.
We’re going to need a bigger raid can, great festering Nurglings.
With Rotbringer Sorcerer they managed to capture that Nurgle look very well.
So this is….1 new figure, a new Battletome, and a repack of existing figures? Oh well, at least there’s a bit here for me to get excited about. Path to Glory? — You mean Path to Gory!
