For those unfamiliar with Never Mind The Billhooks, the game has been designed so that it allows you to play out two-player affairs in as little as an hour or an hour and a half. All of the key rules for the game are contained in cribsheets and it has been designed so that referencing the main rules shouldn't happen too often.

The game itself is card-activated and uses the classic wargaming staple of the humble d6. There is a good focus on trying to make the period jump off the tabletop with the use of longbows and the like but ammo comes into play and you'll need to get into the meat grinder to truly make your mark.

You'll also find rules for cavalry and skirmishers alongside heavy infantry like Men At Arms with Bills and Pikes. This new Deluxe version of the game is going to look prettier than before and comes with lots of tweaks and changes that have been added by Andy and his time spent with the wider Billhooks community.

The idea is that the book, cards and tokens are going to be made available for around Christmas time with pre-orders coming soon. If you're interested in learning more about the game then there is a neat video series with Andy himself...

Should be great for skirmish gamers.
I’ve been playing Billhooks for a while and it’s a great gaming system.
It will also take expanding into big battles – Eric the shed has successfully wargamed all the Wars of the Roses battles and has reports on his blog.
