The Nerdist Crew Release Carnival Row RPG Supplement
September 10, 2019 by brennon
Many of you will have probably given then new Amazon series Carnival Row a watch. If you've then been tempted to think about roleplaying in its world then Nerdist has done you a favour and made a free download for the Cypher System with a Carnival Row RPG Supplement.
The download contains everything you need in order to play through stories set in this world with a look at making characters, exploring the world and its different factions, and of course, the bloated City of Burge where the Fae clash with its inhabitants and all sorts of quirky tales unfold
If you're interested to see how a Carnival Row RPG might play out then the Nerdist hosted a story called The Heist On The Row which you can watch below...
This will give you a good idea of the Cypher System so you can see if this is for you. You could, of course, use this as a sourcebook for any other roleplaying game you prefer as it is a great resource for background information.
Carnival Row itself has impressed me. I really like the world-building which is way better than Bright (namely because it's better paced as a TV series rather than a movie) and even though Orlando Bloom can be a bit wooden at times I think Cara Delevingne and the rest of the cast have made this a pretty engaging story to follow. I've only seen the first three episodes but I'm very interested to see where it goes next.
We've had a lack of proper interesting Fantasy TV shows over the past few years but it looks like we're going to be well supplied in the wake of Game Of Thrones with the likes of this and The Witcher coming later this year.
Are you going to be giving this a download?

I prefer the idea of it being a steampunk war game
Hats off to you sir, that is a splendid idea
never seen this and cara delevingne is in it so will be looking out for it now the game looks great.
I started watching the series Carnival Row and couldn’t stop.
I then went to Amazon and looked for some Art of books based on the series cause I wanted more. I was disappointed as I did not find any, yet…..
This RPG is a nice find and I’m excited to get my hands on it.
Thanks to all that helped it find its way here!
agree
for me is the surprise of the year together doom patrol and the boys, on fantasy style i have get a big surprise
i watched a few episodes. I saw reviews which were saying it is trying to be jack of all trades master of none. But I for one think it’s a really cool world with big hints at Irish immigration to america / and other huge migrant movements. Industrialisation and even a little bit of the ‘great game’ going on.
I think RPGs in this setting would be quite cool
