Necrons & Asuryani Soar Into Aeronautica Imperialis
January 11, 2022 by brennon
Games Workshop has been previewing some of the new releases dropping for Aeronautica Imperialis in the near future. We start with some new releases for the Necrons via the folks at Forge World.

Both the Doom Scythe Fighters and the Night Shroud Bombers are going to be arriving this weekend on the Forge World webstore, allowing you to throw the flying croissants into the mix during your grimdark dogfights.
Doom Scythe Fighters // Aeronautica Imperialis
This gives you some deadly ships capable of ravaging enemy fighters or utterly obliterating objectives on the ground. I reckon they would be fun to paint as well, especially with the inlaid detail from those glowing Necron runes.
The new rules for the Necrons are going to be collected together into a new Aeronautica Imperialis Compendium which will also be available this weekend.
Companion // Aeronautica Imperialis
This contains new rules, aircraft, faction rules and more from the White Dwarf magazine. This means you'll be able to build up squadrons of Necrons, Asuryani and Adeptus Astartes. You'll also find an expanded and detailed set of damage rules, new Ace abilities and options for limiting ammunition.
New Asuryani Aircraft
In addition to the new Necron ships, we're also going to be getting some new Asuryani releases in the new future. They get some fearsome (and pretty big) aircraft that will also be available from Forge World soon.
Vampire Hunter // Aeronautica Imperialis

The Vampire Hunter is great at taking out heavily armoured ground targets. It is a solid option for those wanting to do speedy hit and run strikes at your enemies. This kit will also allow you to make the Vampire Raider.
Vampire Raider // Aeronautica Imperialis

Armed with some serious guns, this is able to lay down some withering firepower whilst also dropping off troops at key locations. So, it's not only good at securing objectives but also keeping enemies at bay.
Both of these Asuryani releases would be a neat option for those who picked up Wrath Of Angels, the most up-to-date boxed set for Aeronautica Imperialis.
Are you tempted by these new aircraft swooping in soon from Games Workshop and Forge World?

Nice to see the elder getting a transport, though its going to cost half a fortune ;). The companion is good to have, first impressions though is that it is going to be an odd mix of things. If this is going to be the last publication then I would have preferred them to bundle in all the factions (updated) as the complete product.
Ooh we’re Doomed Doomed the necrons are coming great models.
My previous spaceship battle games are Dropfleet Commander and Star Wars Armada. Could anyone tell me if this is a good game to play? Thanks
A few of us in our club played it for a few games, honestly, its a pretty bad game, we are reverting back to the first edition of the game with the new models.
The models are the onl saving grace for the system, they are very nice.
Thanks Basicbrush, for your opinion. I have to say it was the models that I find appealing too. I think I will buy just the models for fun or incorporate them into other games and forget this game.
Those look really good.
Those Necron ships bear a striking resemblance to Cylon fighters from the Battlestar Galactica remake.
