The Namban Army Masses For Zenit Miniatures’ Kensei
June 11, 2019 by brennon
Zenit Miniatures has added a new fighting force into the mix for Kensei. These European invaders are here to start causing all sorts of trouble for the natives.
The Namban Army Box provides you with all the units you need when it comes to building up a force of invading soldiers. A lot of the existing sets have been bundled together plus you get three character models to lead the soldiers in their exploits.
If you want to add a little more brutality into the mix you also have these veteran Halberdiers who will be hacking down mounted troops and causing all kinds of havoc.
These chaps look like they know what they're doing. I like the idea that this unit might have seen battle across multiple continents and so they are looked to by the others for guidance on the battlefield.
Fly The Flag
As well as new units the Namban force also gets two new characters with Sergeant Rodeleros...
...and this fellow, the Flag Bearer Nobleman. Both of these fellows give you some additional support on the battlefield with the Sergeant getting stuck into combat and the Flag Bearer keeping your men in line.
It's neat to see that Zenit is still exploring different ways to expand upon the Kensei world, telling new stories away from just the clash of Japanese-inspired clans.
Maybe we'll soon see the horror/fantasy aspect of the Namban forces brought into the mix as they clash with the spirit forces of these mysterious isles?
Will you be playing as these invading forces?

Fabulous looking figures love the Sergeant snd Bannerman.
Those look really nice.
This is actually more of a historical army from a particular battle that was fought in Asia brought into a fantasy setting (they where even Kickstarted with their historical enemy, Japanese Pirates), they look good. I don’t see the point in adding fantasy elements from Spain into an Asian setting unless they have something more unique than the standard European fare, what they have is enough.
