Myriad Miniatures Bring Ian Miller’s Dragon To Kickstarter
June 21, 2023 by brennon
Myriad Miniatures are working on more of their Ian Miller range with a new Kickstarter being launched for the OsmoticMeld this week. Friday will see the launch of the new crowdfunding campaign for Here Be Dragons which brings Vuur and the Worm Gang to life.
Here Be Dragons Kickstarter // Myriad Miniatures
The focus is very much going to be on the Dragon, Vuur which is (as you have probably guessed) based on the artwork by Ian Miller which has been an evocative source of inspiration for many painters and miniature designers over the years.
Ian Miller's Dragon
The miniature for Vurr has been designed based on the art by Miller for a book called There And Back Again about the origins of The Hobbit by Mark Atherton. It is a classic piece of artwork and has been wonderfully brought to life for painters and wargamers with this stunning miniature.
Vuur // Myriad Miniatures
The miniature comes in twenty-one parts and will be cast in resin. Some elements of the miniature will be cast in metal though including the tongue and the horns. When it's assembled, the miniature will be 150mm long, 70mm wide and an impressive 160mm high. It is going to be a bit of an expert kit to play around with though!
Vuur // Myriad Miniatures
As well as working on the miniature for Vuur, Myriad Miniatures has also been working on some accessories pieces which have also been designed in the Miller style. You'll be able to build the lair for Vuur with treasure piles, eggs and more. The perfect focus for adventurers to look at pilfering from under the smoking nose of the dragon!
There are also some miniatures representing those of the Worm Gang, folks who are so obsessed with the treasures of Vuur that they will risk it all to claim it from under his nose. Based on new artwork from Miller, you'll get miniatures for an Elf, Dwarf, Orc, Hobbit and Man. The miniatures will be around 20mm in scale when they get added to the campaign.
There is more for you to look forward to with the project including a strange machine of eldritch origins and Zmey, The Young Dragon who will be a Kickstarter Exclusive. If you've loved the work from Myriad Miniatures before based on the art of Ian Miller (see more HERE) then this seems like a no-brainer!
Will you be picking up Vuur on Kickstarter this Friday?

“Expert” kit? Bah! It’ll just takes time to pin and glue together. It looks good as a transfer from art to sculpt.
When you’ve got folks super-gluing plastic kits together you’ve just got to cover your bases, cheers.
Nice to see a physical model on offer and most of all it looks terrific.
Cheers, casting up a pre-production sample at the moment, will show pics later, all the best.
Does Ian Miller have any involvement in this or does it count as homage?
Yes, Ian Miller has worked with Myriad on the campaign.
A fabulous artist Miller.
Yes as Brennon has said, Ian and I are in partnership on the Osmoticmeld project, which essentially is envisaging his work as 3D “traditional” sculpts.
