MTG Reveals Oath Of The Gatewatch For January Release
September 2, 2015 by deltagamegirl22
Just to show they have some amazing tricks up there sleeves, Wizards of the Coast has already announced the name of the next set in the soon to arrive, Battle For Zendikar Block- Oath of the Gatewatch. This 184 card set will hit the stores January 22, 2016, to continue the story of the heroes epic attempt to regain control of Zendikar from the brutal Eldrazi.
Though little more is known about the set at this time, it's clear that Nissa is making a strong appearance and will be using nature in the heroic battle.
Will you be joining forces with the heroes or the Eldrazi?

I’ve signed up for the Battle for Zendikar pre release event at my local store. Returning to the game after an absence of nearly 7 years, and I am loving the new card designs and the fantastic artwork. Blocks will now only be 2 sets instead of 3, with one new set released each quarter. As I understand it, there are no plans for any future core sets either,… Read more »
I know! They’re shaking things up a bit. I think for a player/neurotic collector like myself, this will be a good thing. With a smaller card pool, the likelihood of getting most of the cards in a box or 2 is higher than with the high volume core sets.
That was fast. Battle For Zendikar is not out yet but name of next one has already been revealed.
Got my DCI number, I’m all set for Zendikar. I initially turned away from MTG after racking up an impossible number of cards, as did my brother (Mirage was my first ever Magic set). Now that Wizards seem to be reducing the card pool, this has pulled me back. As you said, Dawn, this is a good thing, for both collectors and competitive players. It will make rare chasing easier, plus it will be easier to find multiple copies of cards you want.
