Sneak A Look At More Terrifying Dark Fantasy Coven Characters
February 16, 2022 by brennon
Footsore Miniatures & Games are going to be helping bring Wigley, Bone, Farr & Hobday's world of Coven: The Dark Fantasy Game, to life soon via Kickstarter. With that in mind, we got a look at some more of the strange, folklore-inspired characters you'll be meeting deep in the woods...
Darkheart // Coven
The various characters that we've seen so far are fantastic and come with neat rhymes that speak to their role within the world of Coven. Darkheart here seems to draw on the idea of cooking children and all sorts of unlucky folk within her pot. You can also see that serious folk horror style coming to life here in the sculpts, reminding me of an almost del Toro look.
My favourite of the three previews we've seen recently is The Humpback.
The Humpback // Coven
I think the reason that The Humpback works for me is that it's the one that seems the most "Oldhammer/Horror" inspired. I like the idea of this creature shuffling around, the creak and squeal of iron sounding as it opens its jaw and the bone scrapes against the blade lodged in its skull. I am already getting tingles!
We also have this particularly Satanic pairing of The Sisters Of The Storm.
The Sisters Of The Storm // Coven
It's neat that all of the different spooks for Coven so far are all very different. This is already feeling like a very unique and different game, which is a real breath of fresh air. I am very eager to get a look at how the game plays as well as some of the underlings and minions that these characters are going to be shunting towards their foes.
A fascinating preview of what's on the cards and a Kickstarter well worth keeping an eye on!

Boom, boom, boom, boom
I’ll smack you with my broom
Boom, boom, boom, boom
Now go tidy your room
Let me hear you say way-o!
Lol.
It’s a Mumm-ra Mr Tumnus evil coven of the White Witch?
I’ve been watching this for a while I sincerely hope it lives up to the artwork.
Anyone else remember “Hut of brown, Now sit down!”
This looks intriguing, look forward to seeing pics of the actual miniatures, hopefully when the Kickstarter launches.
