Monsters & Slayers Coming To Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
September 6, 2021 by brennon
Games Workshop has been expanding on the options available to both the Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Warclans in Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. Two new Battletomes are on the way alongside a suite of supporting characters.

The first of the factions that we're going to be looking at are the Stormcast Eternals. This new Battletome contains all of the updated rules for playing as Sigmar's host on the tabletop. You'll get the new-look Stormcast Eternals in their Thunderstrike armour and plenty of ways to form them into bespoke Chambers.

As well as the new rules contained within its pages you'll also be able to buy a pack of Warscroll Cards allowing you to reference the units you have at your command without flicking back and forth through the book.
You'll also find a couple of new (and returning) units for the Stormcast Eternals. For example, the Knight-Judicator is now on the hunt.

Alongside their hunting Gryph-hounds, the Knight-Judicator is a great slayer of beasts. If you're eager to pin down some of those towering new monsters that have been stomping out of the swamp recently then this fellow would be a good choice. I do like the idea of including one of these alongside the Vanguard-Hunters as they stalk prey across the realms.
As well as the Knight-Judicator, you will also be able to call on the might of the Stormstrike Chariots.

This really adds to the Roman/Greek look to the Stormcast Eternals of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. The design team seem to have really embraced this recently and I do think it's a neat tweak to their aesthetic. You can arm the crew with bows, spears and of course a good ol' axe for smashing Orruks in the face.
Finishing things off, we also have the re-release of some older miniatures. The Lord-Arcanum & Evocator-Prime were previously available during the last edition of the game and are now good options for those Chambers focusing on magical and combating the undead!

Some good reinforcements, especially if you're looking to build on the new look for the Stormcast Eternals. Take to the Realm of Ghur and see if you can make the forces of the Orruk Warclans flee back into the shadow!
New Orruk Warclans
Talking of the big, green menace, we also have the Orruk Warclans Battletome.

Much like the Stormcast Eternals, the Orruk Warclans Battletome is available in a fancy limited edition full-art guise. You will also be able to snag yourself a set of Warscroll Cards that will aid you during gameplay.

When it comes to new miniatures, there are some towering beasts! The Breaka-boss On Mirebrute Troggoth is one of those miniatures that I am really eager to see people paint for the tabletop. I love the design and I think these are ripe for conversions too.
Breaka-boss On Mirebrute Troggoth // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
I like how this takes familiar concepts from the Orruks of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar and twists it a little bit. It has Troggoths. Good. It has a cruel-looking Orruk. Great! The miniature looks unique and manages to blend together "Orc" aesthetics from both the Mortal Realms and The Old World.
If you're looking to pin a Stormcast Eternal to a mountain then this is where the Beast-Skewer Killbow comes in.

With absolutely massive ballista-style bolts to hand, this is going to utterly devastate a formation of soldiers. It feels suitably Orcy but with plenty of Gobliny elements thrown into the mix to. Another fun addition to the Orruk Warclans.
As is the way with a lot of these new additions, you will also be able to pick up copious amounts of dice. You can snag dice for both the Stormcast Eternals and Orruk Warclans PLUS Grand Alliance dice for Order, Destruction, Death and Chaos. So, there should be something for everyone this weekend.
Are you going to be snagging these new miniatures?

That’s an angry looking belt buckle.
Think it puts off the ladies when their crotches are angry, screaming faces?
Are there female troggoths?
we don’t talk about female troggoths … just like we never mention female dwarves or male elves 😉
Gawds those names. I know they want to trademark them but I’m reaching for the painkillers.
Fab looking figures especially the troll & ork rider.
How many battletomes for the Stormcast have there been these past four years? Four, five? AOS is becoming like 40K – I can’t keep up anymore.
There is at least one new one every release and we’re at 3rd edition of AoS …
However at least the Stormcast have always been the Stormcast.
I think the Orks are on their 3rd namechange ?
Or rather I don’t know if the Orruk Warclans is just the new extra savage orks or all of them combined into one book. That is the real annoying and needlessly confusing bit of this release.
Those Orc miniatures look rather good. Sigmarines how ever are still meh.
Well, new books for me along with the scrolls and either the Knight-Judicator or Breaka-boss On Mirebrute Troggoth !
No interest in more Sigmarines (bring back the Old World, bring back the Old World…)
That beast-skewer thing is fun!
