Try Out Monolith’s Claustrophobia 1643 At Gen Con This Week
August 1, 2018 by brennon
You'll have no doubt heard about the change of approach for Monolith ahead of their re-release of the old Asmodee/Croc Games Claustrophobia 1643. Well, Gen Con this year is going to be your opportunity to try the game out for yourself.
The game is for two players and is set in New-Jerusalem, a bastion of Christianity built deep within the Underworld. One player will take control of three to five Holy warriors who are battling against an endless tide of demons and undead spawn in an attempt to beat the scenario set by the opposing player.
Claustrophobia 1643 will be available exclusively through Kickstarter in October and limited to 10,000 copies. Inside its box (a tease of which you'll see above) you will get the main game and also its first expansion, De Profundis.
You can find out more about the game by heading over to their Facebook Page HERE or checking them out at Gen Con yourself - Monolith Booth: #2830.
Will you be getting on board with this one?

Limited to 10,000 copies. Not very limited run for a board game, but enough of a sale gimmick to hype the product and trigger FOMO. I miss the days when games where sold on the basis of how good they are. Pandemic has sold loads and still going strong after all these years on the basis of being a darn good game.
More limited than Space Hulk…
This game was already sold on the basis of how good it was. This is a reprint, and updated version, of a game that already exists.
It has a fan base, which is what this kickstarter is aimed at. Its not so much a push to get a new product line in place, as a push to capitalize on the dedicated fans to the game. As far as I can tell, anyway.
@tankkommander – As much of a kickstarter junkie as I am I have to agree 🙁
what @tankkommander said.
Despite what Kickstarter and others have said, KS is being used as a preorder system and buyers are beta testers (quite often the rules are revised with second ks or update…. Mythic Battles, Conan, Endure the Stars, Zombicide, Rum and Bones… for example).
And this just proves it.
And your point?
People need to stop living in the past, kickstarter is now a different platform then it use to be. That’s just how it is, no point complaining about it. You either except this is the new kickstarter, or simply choose to ignore it.
Also, this is a reprint of an old game. So as long as they don’t change the rules to much, this isn’t going to be any kind of beta. More of an attempt to put out a “higher quality” edition for the fans of the game.
You needed this game to prove it? Really? Perhaps you have not seen what CMON and Queen Games has done many years before this.
May be worth a look.
This game is set in the universe of Hell Dorado. Croc is one of the creators of that game as well. If Claustrophobia ends up being a hit I would love to see it become the start of a Hell Dorado revival.
I would like to point out that Croc has contributed to this reprint and made changes to the game as well.
